DT - I have to install a small 4 channel DVR to the wall, and I've been racking my brain on how to mount it. How did you guys do this? Is this and MDF that's been trimmed and painted, or plastic of sorts? I was thinking of using 2 small shelf brackets and just placing DVR vertically on them, but I like your solution better, even though I would have to make the holding bracket smaller to allow for fans exhaust and such.
Anyone used any OK looking metal brackets like I used to see PCs secured to desks in schools?
it is called Starboard. It is a plastic material that is really easy to work with. Just make sure you de-burr the edges, because they are pretty sharp after cutting. We use it all the time on boats for making custom brackets to hold things to the wall.
We have it delivered to us, but you can probably buy it at any marine supply store such as West Marine.

John, That looks great! you know if you ever need help im a call away :) actually, i just want to see some of the boats you get to work on.
thanks, I would say that we are hiring, but they seem content to just work me as hard as they can until i drop dead from exhaustion. the earliest i've been home this past week is 1 am. i've been working on boats during the day, then driving down to ocean city to work on this project.
Fun troubleshooting afternoon. Started with a Litetouch processor that wouldn't talk to C4 (via rs232) other than to respond to a single command, then give no feedback, then wouldn't take another command. Then an AV matrix that would function but give no feedback. Then some Aprilaire stats that don't populate in the GUI - one specifically that never shows up, others that take about 5 seconds to show up.
So the AV matrix turned out to be a bad 232 cable (doh!). It was receiving commands but not sending feedback.
The Litetouch processor was not fun. I've been uploading to it via wifi for days with zero issues. I never really got the 232 working right. Tried other 232 cables, other 232 ports, etc. Never got it working. Finally switched to IP control from C4 and it instantly worked. Nice! Then a while later I was upstairs trying to upload more programming changes and now I can't connect to the processor through the network. Oh joy!
Haven't tackled the Aprilaires yet.
Everything in the house is 80% done and the customers are happy... so I can't really complain. :)
We haven't even started the theater yet. Will be fun.
Arcam AVR5000 Dali Euphonia Phantoms (x3) Dali Kompass Phantoms(?) (x4) Velodyne SC-IW (x2) Projector will either be a JVC or possibly upgraded to an LED of some sort, probably Sim2.
Oh and HDMI over Fiber which should be interesting.

So, yes indeed "I pushed a button".
Paid very well too...:-)
Ive had days where I glued an emmiter, changed batteries, or more frequently turned "EXT IN" off on some 07-08 Denon AVRs. Wasnt sure if I should find something to do for an hour to look busy or just call it a day.

That's our high voltage guy. I think he's been shocked one too many times. He's comedy and clients love him. Actually those two on the same job are almost guaranteed to make you laugh till you puke. Two completely different people but both are very smart and dedicated employees.
