Arrived this morning
inserted my pin number to open the metal blind in front of the shop...
5 cm later, complete black out of the shop, the blind stopped...
Had to go by the wharehouse, run into the dark to stop the alarm that went on for 'sabotage' turn on the electricity ... reboot the server, reboot the register program (very large database and block consistency check took like forever) crawl between the glass and the blind to manually roll up the blind... to open at approx 11.30 after all this crap...
seem that the motor of the blind is short circuit... the company that installed it 4 yrs ago told us they had the same problem with this series and they have to uninstall and reinstall a new motor into the blind that is 8 meters long...
So pratically no way for a customer to enter the shop as they will perform this action on the sidewalk in front of the shop tomorrow...
aaah one of those days... Got a grinder? Time to make a new door :)

Met with all the new members of our "NEWCO". Had a good meetiing, plus my mechanic called me to inform me that he got my old Benz started (electrical problem) --- after working on it for (10), yes, TEN days of troubleshooting!!!! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! I had an 85 Cadillac that was in mint condition. I loved that car. It had some weird electrical problem where it would just shut off on me. Sometimes it would happen 10 times in one day and sometimes i could go months without it happening. Each time i would take it to the shop they would call me an hour later and say its running and they dont know why. I finally called a wrecker to come and get it because i needed closure and i moved on :).

Practically ripped the ladder rack off my van today. Drove up to the "circle" in front of a customer's house, was trying to avoid the grass when I hear "BAM!!! BAM!!!! BANG!!!" Hit a low overhanging branch. The middle rack was completely off and was hanging from the rubber strap going through the ladders, the back one was laying down and pointed backwards 90 degrees, and one side of the front was bent and loose. Only the passenger side clamp was holding the whole thing in place - with an 8 foot, 12 foot, and 24 foot ladder on top. After I finished the service call I parked in a snow drift under a street light and remounted the whole damn thing. The tree had one minor scrape on it... It's a rack similar to this:

Had a client call me up and say that we wanted to do a bunch of the stuff that we couldn't do last year with his project. I then told him it was around $25k worth, but since the project has now been half done, it will change slightly. He then said, well not quite that much and gave me the go ahead to design $12,700 worth of upgrades and improvements to his system. We'll weed out from the $25k that he didn't do, what he really wants. They live in the house now and things have changed.
Put together a sweet little 5.1 upgrade proposal for an existing client. * Totem Tribe InWall LCR for left and right * Totem Tribe I Center * Totem Mask 6.5" In-walls for surrounds * Denon 3310 * Custom Cabinet rack
Working on squeezing a basic Prodigy controller into the system. Normally every system has some type of control solution, but they've had 5 remotes for years and would rather have the performance upgrades. We'll see.
Setup a meeting with another existing client that is starting some remodel work which will require us to take down the system, rewire it all, plus probably add some DA.
Also got a call on a small commerical job that we are wiring the data and phone for, informed me that there were some notes missing on the plans that I had. Said that 3 of the lcoations that were wired each for 1data+1phone, actually needed 8 of each, one other location, also wired for 1+1, needs 6 of each and one other location that was shown needs a total of 5 of each. For a GRAND total of 62 more lines to be run. Also they are now asking us to do the trim out and put in a basic knockdown patch panel for the data.
Business has been picking up a little. Although one very large job that would have been $50k-$100k (depending on how much they decided to do now) has cut back to ONLY installing TV's with basic cable box's kept locally for now. =( this is a bummer. They are hoping to at least get the 5.1 and 7.2 zones with central rack and control in maybe this summer, depending on how their business' do.

I just finished a couple installs - one with 3 x Tribe III's, and another with 2 x Tribe II's and 1 x Tribe III (center). They really do rock, and the customers are very happy with them. They've become my defacto go-to speakers for my systems.

How did you like installing the Sonance Invisibles? I've been pushing those things to everybody I talk to, I can't manage to get someone to bite. Maybe someday.
Were they east to install?, Which model did you use? Did you put them in the Ceiling or walls?
It looks like you did a really nice job. So if the customer didn't tell you. I am.

Went to a customers house last week to swap out a 61" Sony DLP with a new one POS Mitsubishi. (We didn't sell it) customer says he had a TV guy come out and the TV is not able to be fixed. He asks us to take it with us (No problem). Never dealt with the guy before. We get there and just unplug everything from the back of the TV, walk it right out to the van.
Go back in hook everything up to the new TV.
Drive to my favorite TV/Electronics repair shop and drop it off. Tell my son, "If it doesn't cost too much to fix we'll take it downstairs for your video games." Poor kid has to sit on top of a damn 20" TV right now.
Bench Technician calls me today and says "Dude, there's nothing wrong with this TV. Everything works"
I think I'm about to become a very popular dad.
