I started a whole house retro today. Everything is finished including basement ceiling. On top of that I broke my hand last week, started at 9am today, and after removing just about every can light in the basement I managed to homerun 4 RG6 cables by 4PM. Arghh. I haven't touched the spackel yet. Did I mention that every wall in the house is some sort of a custom paint job. Friggin' HGTV.
House was built in 1993. Every stitch of cable in the house is RG59. what a PITA. I'll try to send pictures when I'm done.

That looks good! are they using that gym as a theater too? if so what kind of sound dampening did you use? I can imagine the acoustics are "terrible" without treatment lol. or do they have a dedicated one?
NBA sports star or money happy client?
Again looks great!

Again looks great! no not primary theater, just fun room. this is stand alone building on property with couple of guest rooms, kitchen, den and gym. system is pro a/v. no damping just gym with loud tv. notice the black wallplates, they are for instruments, mics, mixers etc. for shows, plays, etc for grandkids. it actually sounds pretty decent considering. money, money baby thanks

I'm always shocked when I do the actual measurements and figure out 22.5 - 30 degrees off center for the fronts. It's always MUCH farther apart than I think. At home I have mine about 1' off the sides of a 42" because that's how wide my cabinet is. When I move them to where they should be, one ends up in a corner and the other is in a doorway. :)

Yesterday I realized that summer is fast coming to and end.
Knocked off work early and went ocean kayaking with a buddy, then our wives met us at the beach for a picnic at sunset.
It was a good reminder that I need to make time to do stuff like that more often!

example. 10' from TV to $pot means 5' each way left and right from center (10' apart) That's pretty close and a hell of a lot easier to figure out. 22.5 degrees from 10' back would be just over 4' off center for the left and right. 30 degrees from 10' back would be just under 6' off center. But bump that seating distance up to, say, 14' and suddenly you need between 12' - 16' of wall space to fit your speakers on. Long, skinny rooms need not apply!
