We got a whole hell of a lot closer to having a pretty big project signed, sealed, and delivered.

According to the guy I spoke with in NJ today, this is the largest DM project to date! Three 32x32s, two 8x8s, and five 6x1s. DVPHD-PROs for annotation. Massive RoomView system. Full broadcast quality production system (HD-SDI) in the auditorium with fiber trunks to the parking lot for sat trucks. We're shooting for 10/01/10 sign off.

The quote is well into seven figures, I've been working on it for three days now and I'm only 25% done. I officially envy our sales guy, and want a raise.

This thread will either die quickly or continue on for ages. I'm hoping for the latter.

What i'd like to see here is members taking a pic or 2 of the work they are doing (don't have to be high quality) and posting the pic with a brief summary of the job. I regularly take pics of work with my phone and i'm assuming others do the same. Obviously don't include details of who the clients are, just a pic of the work itself.

I'll get things started in the next post.

Simon.

Man, i never thought in a million years this thread would go this far. Good on everyone for keeping the theme....well sort of anyway.

Simon.

Came across this nightmare on a job where we subbed the audio install 8+ years ago.  Closed-back cabinet above an RPTV.  Not wide enough to spin the receiver and CD changer to get to the back, yet there is no access to the rear.  I have no idea how they got it wired up.

This is all sitting on one shelf, stacked up one on the other.

(top to bottom)
AMX power supply
AMX processor
Harman/Kardon 2 channel receiver
Sonance 2 channel amp
Sonance 12 channel amp
Panja 8x8 audio matrix
Sony 300 disc CD changer

Have fun with all that! I can't believe its lasted this long. Especially the HK, they hate heat.

That poor little Sony. I'm shocked the mechansims still function, and move around inside that unit. Surprisingly it hasn't been tweeked by all that weight.

I was thinking the same thing...out of all of the components that could have ended up at the bottom of the heap, it's the lightest piece of plastic in the bunch.   The 300 CD's are the only thing holding it up!..  Try to pull out a disc and that will be the straw that broke the camels back!  LOL.

I know!  The Sony is like a freakin tin can!  It's like sitting a stack of cinder blocks on top of a soda can.

I spent at least 45 minutes trying to turn the equipment around just to see the back of the amps and switcher.  I couldn't get the switcher to budge, and the damn H/K is so deep that every time I moved the Sonance amps a quarter of an inch the H/K would have to be turned or slid forwards or back so it didn't fall because the feet would slip off the amp.  I was cussing a LOT.  But very quietly.  :)

I would love for one of you guys to look at this house and tell me how they wired it up.  They left a dead space behind the back of the cabinet, but it's at a 45 degree angle so there's no way to pull the back plywood off because of the wall.  I know it's a custom built-in cabinet, but I swear it looks like they put the equipment in, wired it up, closed the back, THEN pushed the whole cabinet in place against the wall.

Maybe they did. Where's the house, I'd love to see this, there has to be a way to get to the back.

I was doing a install last Tuesday.

I was adding a video conference system to the room.

The system was sold to the US branch and was then sent to Canada for them to get it installed. The people getting the system did not really have anything to say. It just came in as a present.

On the first day, one guy that ''knows'' A/V gear and that will give training of the new system to the other users , walks in and as a look at what we are installing ''the speakers'' and look at me and says : ''Oh, what is that? the camera?''.

Keep in ming this is a normal white JBL control 26ct.

My partner was beind him. I could see him rolling his eyes.

I had to hold myself not to laugh.

For this same guy, the word control means video like in :Will my computer control the LCD?

What he really meant was : Will my computer be displayed on the LCD?

WOW. Good guy to have to take care of your new gear.

I guess if he's in charge, the other employees really know nothing about AV and he really stood out.

Just got home from CEDIA. Writing up a short discourse for the guys I'm working with that didn't make the trip. Atlanta is nice, but I missed Seattle!

LOL! Well, I was trying to be nice and not P*SS off too many Georgians! I gotta say, their mass transit system is pretty impressive, but the humidity, polluted air are not very enjoyable.

Other than that I didn't really venture out and about all that much.

It would be nice to see a better bunch of food vendors @ CEDIA... man some of the food was just plain nasty!

I tend to take where I live for granted, until I leave it and go elsewhere, then return home.
