What did you use for acoustic side panels? Owens Corning 703?

I don't have side panels yet. Dennis Erskine recommended that I use dispersion rather than absorption with my speakers at the first reflection points.

In the columns, I stuffed them with regular fiberglass battes and added Certain Teed CertainPro hard insulation in front to keep curious little fingers (not my kids, they would never do that, I'm speaking of other kids :) ) from poking through the fabric. I held them in place with angle aluminum strips.

What I think you are looking at are the plugs that I made for the windows. It started with this:

and ended with this:

I used plywood, stapled on fabric to the front, added some thick acoustic foam to the back, and installed some handles to make them easier to move around.

I'm waiting to finish reading Toole's book and the CEA document before I add any more acoustic treatments so that I can make an informed decision on what I install.

THAT IS SOME CLEVER SH!T!!! I'm so jealous. The bookcase thing is bad ass!

Thanks... I really enjoy this kind of custom work.  Seems like I'm spending a lot more time now hiding technology for customers than a few years ago.

Once again I've got myself backed up so close to a wall that I can't get any full pics of the back of the rack...  It's not 100% completed anyway.

Back at you CJ... looks like you've done a nice job on your theater!

The job with the moving bookcase should be done by the end of the year and I'll post some photos once it's completed.

I'm in Phoenix stuck at the airport waiting for my flight to Atlanta.
I just checked something and got pissed off, sort of.
I'm using airport's free wireless network and its faster than the fastest connection I can get at home. 6449 download and 3730 upload.

I had a truck similar to that, rebuilt the beast, drove it for two years. BLew the motor, then it sat for about 6 years, then I finally sold it. Cool trucks!

I hear ya. In all my years there have only been a handful of control rooms that we could get good pics of. The only really good ones are of racks that were assembled at the shop.
