Did u try the ir port on the back? I was under the impression it was an output for controlling a VCR. I didn't test it, but it says IR INPUT, I believe.

I like what you did with the cabinet. Can't wait to see the drop down screen!

Did not read your post first, just scrolled down to look pics. I stopped breathing for seconds; 'cause cabinet looks so familiar. A 60" Pioneer Elite/Chief double arm cantiliver mount, Marantz SR-9600, RTI-T4, and Sherbourn multi zone amp are gutted out of cabinet. Job was done about 2yrs ago. Its a brand new house. It started as a spec, Right before sheetrock went up someone put a contract on it. The guy was prettu knowledgeable. He turned me on to Augmented CAT6 to pull in his house. We have since foregone pulling fiber on all of our projects. We pulled fiber for the past 7 years and I dont think we ever once used it or would come across a application (but I did see a new neopro video switch with hdmi over fiber). The homeowner owned some (I think) large powered Infinity? speakers and a rear projection set for that opening. Anyway, after the market crashed last year the house wasnt going to appraise for whatthe contracted to finish it for and the homeowner backed out. The builder understood and is now working to find the people that backed out a new lot to build on. One of my existing customers actually wound up buying the house. Personally I think the cabinet looks funny with that 42" in there, but I know it will look hreat when we get more black grille cloth in the open cabinet doors.

Kscape emails you and says "you have a customer with a failed hard drive" because they monitor all their systems for maintenance. Then you go swap in a new one and it rebuilds by itself. Nothing lost. Proprietary RAID system developed by Kscape. At least that's what my rep tells me. :)

Raid.. all content is saved. usually Kaleidescape contacts you and tells you there is a bad drive before you or the client even know about it.. you go out, slide the new drive in and everything is as good as day 1..

Man if all companies would be that nice and slick to let you know what it wrong with the equipment.

Man if all companies would be that nice and slick to let you know what it wrong with the equipment. Just part of the reason they have the price tag that they do. Upon hearing that, a customer may say "yeah, I guess that's kinda cool", but WE know how freaking fantastic it is. I have to figure out how to convey THAT kind of value to customers on higher ticket items.

Yesterday, I reluctantly went to an old client's place to give them a bid on a couple of outdoor speakers... Beautiful house. Very nice clients.
I say reluctantly, because I am busy helping start up a newco... and that is really taking a lot of my time.
...Anyway, so I was looking at figuring out the best approach to getting the wiring out from the Game Room to the rock speakers, and casually asked Mrs. Homeowner about how their old plasma is working... "She said, ya know... it sucks. It's too small, and it's getting dim. Would you be kind enough to suggest a really good projector and 110" electric screen, and upgrades for the speakers (they have Martin Logans now, but want high-end in walls) and control system"? So my walk-through went from a pair of rock speakers to a new theater. The whole thing took less than ten minutes.

I had to run service to an old install today and took some time to snap some pics and profile it. It was really wierd? In the past two days, I got calls from 3 customers ina 5 block radius (all with dsl?) and said the systems were acting funny after the storm earlier this week. This particular customers Belkin N1 router was shot, everybody else just needed reboots of thier routers. Anyway, we were able to put in a nice linksys rvs4000 and a netgear wg102 wap (getting ready to push a luxul system on him). Anyway, his system turned out pretty nice and has a cool speaker feature. heres the link: [Link: s491.photobucket.com]

I spent the last 48 hours on a boat with a fishing pole in one hand and a beer in the other. The only thing I caught was a sunburn and a hangover. Can't wait to do it again
