The client wanted something very basic so we came up with the OleXL inside the wood enclosure to match the rest of the room. It looks great. I wish we did more stuff like that.

Finished off some plates in a house for electrical inspection tomorrow. We had one data run that had me and another guy pulling our hair out for about an hour. No connection on the blue pair. Re-punched the patch panel and insert. Same thing. Pulled the wire off the insert and re-punched. Same thing. Pulled the insert off, grabbed a new insert, punched down only the blue pair. Tested fine.
Pulled the wire off the insert again, punched all 8 down, tested, no green pair. ??
Pulled off the green and orange pairs, switched them and punched down. Now the green pair tests and 3 & 6 are missing. ????? Pulled the wires off again, tried yet another insert, punched all 8 wires down, no blue pair. ???!?!?!!??!?!
My other installer went to the patch panel and changed out the little jumper on the Cat5 tester. BEEP! Passed. Ohhh you're kidding me....
But now we had a white insert and needed a blue. Pulled the wire off, put the blue one back on, punched all 8 down, tested, no blue pair. OMG!?!!!?!!!?!!!
We had grabbed the original bad blue insert. :)

LOL. I have had that happen more times than i can remember.
My funniest (maybe it isnt funny) termination/test story goes like this. I tell new guy to terminate 30 Cat5's with leviton keystone jacks. I start on the patch panels. We start testing. First cable is testing out as null. My first assumption is "this moron used B instead of A at the plate end. I pulled the patch panel apart and re terminated the 30 cables to B. Cable one gets retested and it passes.
Move to cable 2, its reversed! wtf? I take the wall plate off and sure enough its A. I change it at the keystone jack and move to wire 3. This one is neither A or B, its allover the place. Wire 4 is more of the same and an hour or two later i have basically punched down 30 cables twice in the control room and re terminted all the keystone jacks. New guy no longer works here.

Normally it is just easier to do it yourself. At least when you want it done right:).

About 4 years ago, I had a young lady working for me part time for a few months as she was saving for an overseas holiday, showed her how to terminate Cat5s, Phone and F-connectors once, never had to show her again. Wouldn't mind having her still working for me, of course it didn't hurt that she was very attractive!

Bandar: Good to know. I'm putting one in tomorrow. We actually chose it because of availability at the time, but I think it will be a better solution overall.

Had the same thing happen with a line to THE music server in a restaurant. Their network guy happened to be onsite, and I asked him why there was no connectivity to that jack. Long story short, he ran around cursing and swearing (he had no tools!) trying to fix. The whole time I'm thinking... "I wonder if he checked the patch cable first?". :)

It's a tossup between #2 and #3.. I'm sure you could find a crew of Eastern European immigrants to fill these positions for you rather easily..

I vote number one....Number 3 is a very close second. I wonder where I could find very attractive women to come work for me that would be willing to get down and dirty? =D
It would be so good for business, one 60 year old millionaire getting to watch his TV's and sound systems installed by Models....Im sure we would get called all the time to install "more equipment". And for service calls we would send out a dude, so he would be forced to buy more equipment to get to see the models again...HA
We would be millionaires over night lol
