I hate overhearing conversations like that. On a project a couple years ago.. the alarm company hacked their way thru trimming out the control room end of their gear. I asked the client if i could clean it up. The client decided to call the alarm company out to clean it up. The next day we are supposed to have a meeting about it. Alarm guy, me & my boss and the client. The client and the alarm guy are in the control room first.. as im on my way down i hear the alarm guy explaining how his rats nest was my fault and only temporary until i got out of his way. I lost it a little bit.. which i never do.. but for some reason when i got down there i was ready to argue.

You should have heard some of the "conversations" between myself and the hack job sparky on this project. When I leave WV, I may have some bikers pay him a visit for all the trouble he caused me.

I still can't figure out who to feel worse for though, the client or the GC, because I know the GC really is a good guy at heart, and I know how he got screwed around on some other projects that really hurt his cash flow, but he's also left this homeowner with an unfinished house and no end in sight. It sucks being in the middle, because I inadvertently let it slip that I had been in contact with the GC recently, but he was not answering the homeowners calls at all. I just want to get my stuff signed off and collect my final payment on Monday and be away from that nightmare.

There are a LOT of nightmares right now. I took the R.G. Class at CEDIA and he said that it was not a matter of **IF** a builder GC was going to screw you.... it was a matter of **WHEN**! :)

Come to find out, he is 1000000% right!

I will post some stuff up here in a little while. But the best part of last week was having a home owner call me for a quote. Seems the competition was in with the GC and thought they were a shoe in. I guess the builder told them the home owner was getting another bid.

i did the proposal like it is supposed to be, with the CORRECT speakers for a surround sound! So my price was higher!

Funny thing.... they flipped out, and lowered their price 3K! They are going to either LOOSE money, or shaft the client!

I think it is awesome!

We finished up a commercial project this week. This is the wall mounted equipment rack in the conference room.

Control of the screen is done by this.

This is the how the competition trims out the phones.

This is how we come out the same ceiling about 3 feet away.

I will post our equipment rack for the whole building audio when I find them....

We have several custom wall plates in the conference room that has VGA hook ups and stuff so that when they use it they can hook their laptops up to the PJ.

Overall it was a very nice project.

Looks good Snap!

What kind of Control KP is that? Also I'm guessing the to RF pieces in the rack are for mic's did you have any issues with RF having them right there inside the rack?

The KP is a control 4 6 button keypad.

And yes there are 2 mics. One wireless hand held and one lav. I did not have any issues with them at all.

The whole building is a mixed mono system with Tru Audio speakers. That board room actually has the Rev 6 speakers in there! It sounds really nice to be honest with you. I messed with the parametric EQ that the C4 amp has to fine tune it, but it really is a slick little system.

In programming we set the C4 amp to be locked in at a certain volume. The mixer in the rack on the wall is what controls the signals. So even if they run the mixer all the way to max get it...... the system is protected as well as it can be.

Was hooking up some misc. stuff in a new Townhouse... I was down stairs (4 story place)... and the movers were moving furniture in... All of the sudden I heard a guy yell F**K!! & then SH*T!!! followed by a HUGE crash, and what sounded like a small car rolling down the staircase...
I ran up to see WTF was going on...

The poor guys were carrying one of the older 40 inch SONY CRT TV's up to the master bed room, when they lost it! I think those things were like 305 pounds or something like that.

It beat the hell out of the walls on it's way down the stairs, and the case on the TV was pretty busted up, but the picture tube was intact!!!

The movers then had a rather heated conversation with Mr. Homeowner, saying they were just going to put the TV in the garage for now, and that it was too heavy for them to move up to the bedroom & their insurance would cover everything...

I recall having to "install" a few of those monsters... I am so glad they are gone!

No one was hurt, but the guy who was the one behind the TV, had it rollover his leg and he got a little bruised, but he COULD have really got hurt.

That's a pretty good memory - the KV-40XBR800 weighs 304 lbs.

LOL, thanks, yeah those were nice sets but the weight issue-wow!

Once I went with a guy up to one of the San Juan islands to work on a place... The homeowner wasn't going to be there, and said the new TV is in the living room but needs to go into the Master...
We get there and it's sitting there in a crate! We could barely even slide it to the stairs... We finally went down to the local bar, and recruited a couple big dudes (a very small quaint little village)... we paid each of them $50 for helping us lug that mother up the stairs! They were shocked at our generosity, but we HAD to do it! LOL.
Just the sight of that TV gicves me the chills now!

from my experience, mostly selling them in the early 2000s, i would guess it will be a loooong time before that day arrives.
although i don't think much of sony's tvs today, those old WEGAs were bulletproof tanks. never a problem, and never a return. great picture, nice bezel, heavy enough to use as ballast on a submarine, would make a perfect headstone, anchor, barricade or monument to audio video technology.
there's an Arab proverb that goes, "Man fears time, but time fears the Pyramids." i think it also applies to that 40" WEGA.

I will never forget the gigantic mitsubishi i had the pleasure of moving around at the shop for many years. The last time we moved the boss and i agreed it was time to give it away because it wouldnt die on its own and we didnt have the heart to kill it or the strength to move it.

LOL, isn't that they way. I have respect for electronics that have long outlived their designed lifespan. Still have a Sony 13" CRT built in 1986 that's working fine in a bedroom (full IR remote, 125-channel cable tuner, supports discrete codes (!), on-screen display, stereo speakers, composite video in, analog audio out... all the bells and whistles!)
