Wasted most of another full day messing around with a simple-assed i.r. problem.
Can you say about $800 in time I can't bill for? Yeow!

Cory - nice work on your drawings. The line drawings for post wire hookup is easy to follow and could be followed by any quality installer. If anything, doing those makes sure you have exactly the right cables for hookup! I always seem to be short a y-adapter or something....i hate that :)

Ya, I have been reviewing with my business partner trying to decide if they'd be helpful or not for a competent tech. But on these big jobs where there is so much be split and ran to a couple places on the rack or whatever it at least gives you a good check list. My main purpose is to help legitamize our small company to new clients. We'll see if it works, meeting one tomorrow.

I retroed two wires in a new construction trim out today. The guy decided he wanted to be able to put a tv on "that" wall also and wanted to add a lan drop to a telephone drop. One was easily accessed through the attic and dropped into the to of the swb. The cable drop HAD to go through the floor so it had to go out the bottom of the swb. I hate running ONE cable out the bottom, it just looks like crap no matter how you do it!

How do you come about this project? We are actively looking for ways to get into some commercial work. Hey Corey - this one was a referral from a guy I used to work with in the Pro Audio world. After the quote was submitted on this one, two more were sent out the next day all due to the same referral. There appears to be more coming soon (about 4 or 5)... so hopefully it'll keep me busy for a while! All my business has been word of mouth, and it seems to be gaining momentum. Must be doing something right!

I yanked a panasonic digital system and installed BB VTECH cordless phones for a client. It felt wrong.... but then when i had the new system, unboxed installed and setup in an hour i was able to look at myself in the mirror again :).

Hung an older 56 (inch)? SONY Plasma... over a fireplace in a condo. Client didn't want the wiring hidden.
At least there was power behind the plasma.
That's OK I didn't want to work too hard today anyway (I stayed out a little too late last night)! ;>)

I went to my final install to swap out a cable and make a few final adjustments, and my gear closet is right across the hall from the homeowners office. I got to hear things about how the GC had screwed them that I wish I wasn't privy to. I really liked this contractor, but after listening to a couple of phone conversations I was so glad I had my contract directly with the customer and not the GC, as I am apparently the only sub who has been paid on time through this fiasco.
