No there wasn't. Again check for yourself.

edit: tsvisser "firmly believed" that BluRay would fail. Close enough to a prediction...I stand corrected.

lol

Predicting an outcome is different than alluding or stating a possibility.

not at all, if one is discussing something they are discussing something, if someone is stating X it must either be because they think it is likely or they want to BS others into beleiving something they think is unlikely. Why else talk about something?

I didn't quote anything.

what is that? looks to be the definition of a quote, looks like you also must have pushed the quote and reply button which would have been a good hint that you are quoting him

I never claimed that he did.

what are you talking just below that quote (hopefuly now you know what a quote is and you admit you quoted him) did you not say just below the quote (the quote in post 70 is that boxed in indented area)

I did, and nope you're wrong. Actually, I couldn't even find one post that supported HD-DVD that included a prediction of it being the out right winning format.

so did you not claim that he was wrong that people said HD DVD would win (which was not what he said)

Thanks for proving my point Anthony. All I did was point out the fact that BluRay supporter was wrong, and I became another target of your "fanatical" rebuttals.

no, you said something totaly wrong and I corrected you, then you posted even more garbage in your last post

OT: What happened to the HABS? I thought for sure we had a good shot at the cup this year. I'm not blaming Carey either. The offence/defence never seemed to be playing well at the same time. Shame...

so did I, honestly I think Price let in some goals he should not have, but I think the issue was the rest of the team (offence-mostly) They played as if they where scared. They took bad shots on nets on a good goalie and they did not make good plays. No one was there to pick up the loose puck and they never seemed to play strategically. Hockey is a team game.

pre·dict
1. to declare or tell in advance; prophesy; foretell

al·lude
1. to refer casually or indirectly; make an allusion

Two different meanings according to websters. That's what I'm going to go by. Now that's not the unabridged version...it could be different. That's not a prediction, I'm only alluding to the possibility. ;)

lol... got me. :) I was rereading my reply looking a place where I had repeated/quoted him. I didn't notice the obvious.

yep... got it.

Nope. Maybe I should have started another paragraph after my first sentence. He claimed that you and he were the only two that predicted BluRay's victory. Which is wrong. Trent also said that if he had to choose a winner it would be Bluray. That's what I was correcting, or at least trying to.

no, you said something totaly wrong and I corrected you,
then you posted even more garbage in your last post

Nope again. At that point the only thing I stated was ejfiii was wrong in the assumption that you two were the only forseers (sp?) of BluRay's victory. Lol... I'm going to blot out the second post your mentioning from my memory.

so did I, honestly I think Price let in some goals he

Hockey is a team game.

He definitely let in some garbage. Biron was incredibly hot as well. Power play was a huge let down throughout the playoffs. I will predict that Carey will be a force to be reckoned with come next year this time.

LOL! I tried.

If you go back through here I believe Anthony and I were
the only ones predicting that BD would win. No words
now from all the other people who spent ten if not hundreds
of posts here arguing it wasn't going to be so.

I always stated that I believed BD would win, I was not ready to bank on it though. When I went back to school in 01 I did a presentation about the blue Ray...

but not contradictory Let me ask you this

father: 1 a: a man who has begotten a child

son : 1 a: a human male offspring especially of human beings

are they two different meanings? can the same person be both? Obviously not all allusions need to be future looking (for example, one can allude to a rumour), and obviously not all predictions are alluded to (ejfiii post is a good example). But if someone is alluding to something that will happen in the future then it is a prediction, just hidden in uncertainty to protect themselves if their prediction comes out false. Like I said, why add something that you don't believe? what would it add to the subject? Did any of them get on here and say "BD might not win if a giant meteor struck the earth and all of humanity got eliminated" no because none of them believed that as a possibility.

Nope. Maybe I should have started another paragraph after my first sentence. He claimed that you and he were the only two that predicted BluRay's victory. Which is wrong.

If that is all you meant, but not only was it in the same paragraph but a continuation of the sentence where you said that there where no posts predicting an HD DVD. Obviously BD could not have won if we where the only two in the world who thought it could win, but he was (I think) the only one in this thread that said in a year HD DVD would be gone. Even in the OP

This is the beginning of the end for HD-DVD. Finally,
this will end the format war and we can begin to mainstream
the next DVD format. My clients don't care who wins,
they are so similar, they just want something that will
be there in 5 years.
Let's celebrate!

So others in this thread thought HD DVD was on its last legs before it got revived.

Trent also said that if he had to choose a winner it would be Bluray. That's what I was correcting, or at least trying to.

Yes but his posts where 100% BS, that was his modus operandi, he would post several posts full of BS trying to convince people that HD DVD should be what they buy and then every so often add an "I think BD will win" or "I pushed BD in our company" to try and give legitimacy to the rest of his posting on the subject. He was hoping that others would be dumb enough to think "hey if this guy that pushed BD on his company or thinks BD will win also thinks this is a none event , we are better off buying an HD DVD player or BD is not as good then it must be true. Unfortunately for him people there are not as many people that are that dumb.

If it was a continuation, then I would have used a comma rather than the period. I can understand you misinterpretation of what I wrote, but really, considering the quote I used (which you were certainly aware I was replying to) it should have made sense that I was replying to ejfiii's statement with my first sentence. The rest of the paragraph (Which was written entirely to contradict him. Making it properly structured) was only added to explain that no one had said HD-DVD would win.

Yes but his posts where 100% BS,

Anthony agreed with me... :) Score one for the fanboy...!

Sir,

Harrumph! Once again I have been roused from my slumbers by the seemingly depreciatory use of the term "fanboy".

I’ll have you know that whilst in Indian (serving with the grand old 22nd Foot and Mouth) our Punkah Wallahs performed an invaluable service. Indeed I recollect that during the battle of Amshri Gorge, Hari Lal single handedly cooled 27 cannon, 43 rifles and a goat even though seriously wounded with injuries to his head, hands and leg. (He only had one – the other he lost, several years earlier, to a muggar in the Ganges).

Punkah Wallahs are the salt of the earth. Show some respect.

Blu-Ray

I'm never coming back to this thread! :)

That's what I should have done. I just refuse to let Anthony get the last word. Damn... maybe I shouldn't have said that...
