That looks good. AV%D sells some rolls where the velcor is already cuto tlength and you just peel them off. Cable ties are also nice for tiny bundles or strain reliefing big assed bundles.

Mr.Stanley,
The Crestron Cenipod docking station is coming (seriously). Once planned, the rack was executed as per my ideas with a couple of minor adjustments. It took about 4 days to complete, i don't know whether thats good or bad.
Re: the clients opinion. Who cares, he wouldn't know if it was good or not anyway, i try to work to the standard i want, not what the client might expect. Having said that, i've had no complaints.

The lead singer of Midnight Oil is in politics now so they no longer play as far as i know.

Feel free to print the pics, (for personal use only)

Simon.

Excellent wiring job. I like that you did not break out all the bundles at the same height. If this were (is it?) a Middle Atlantic rack, they would encourage you by their design to run them all out along the solid festoons. Your idea is much better.

Brill!

if you need me to give the stamp of approval its a sad
day for sure.

Reminds me of a line from "All of Me." Blind sax player says to Steve Martin, "look, man, if there's anything I can help you with...you must be in a hell of a lot more trouble than we thought."
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I concur with all said here with the addition of this.

Is that an ethernet switch I see at the top with patch cables going to it?

If so, I would consider using a rackmount version in future, with a 1U brush panel above or below it so that any 'slack' or 'spare' patch cable length can be tucked away out of sight.

All in all, a bloody good rack though!
Sticking to what I'm good at.

Looks clean to me, BUT, labeling could be done better, P-touch in Da house. Keep up clean work, work on labeling. Makes it easy to service.

Simon,

Looks real good, especially if you've figured out on your
own.

The only recommendation is to purchase a label maker designed
to make labels for wire, such as a Brady IDExpert or a
Rhino Pro. It's an investment, but the the product will
pay for itself within the first large rack.

Also, I'm not on the anti-wire tie train, because velcro
has it's benefits and drawbacks. In larger racks such
as the one you displayed, I would still use wire ties.
Also, you should have a nice pair of flush cutters so
as to cut the excess off the wire tie flush with the head,
thereby not creating all the pointy razor blades at the
end of the wire.

The reality is that any experienced pro should have both
velcro and wire ties, and use them depending on the situation.

Good to hear some common since on this, the Velcro nazis seem blinded by thier own zeal.

Get the Rhino Pro, the Brady's fall apart if you don't baby them and the labels cost an arm an a leg.

Looks great, we had a rack contest over at IP a few months ago. There's some decent pictures there if you want to check them out Simon.
