Hi, I would greatly appreciate if someone send me ([email protected]) the unlock info also. I was working on a PDP-R06U. My Pioneer has sound but no picture on Ant (only), I tried to open the unit before the service manual arrived. Thanks a lot in advance.

I too have fallen into the trap switch pit fall. Replaced a MOSFET on the PS (q116) but cannot get the unit (PDP4340) to come alive. Could someone send me this file. [email protected]

I sent this to at least a dozen people who asked and maybe one Thank You from the entire bunch. Stop taking your TVs apart and stop asking. If you are smart enough to work on a $5k TV then figure it out yourself. This thread should ba called: It's my first day!
I cannot believe the lack of appreciation for a pro with 20+ years experience in install and repair takes the time to help a DIY save hundreds of dollars. Amazing! You wonder why CIs hate DIYs....this is it.

I really feel bad for you folks that came here seeking help and ran into this guy. The trap switch problem is not that hard to solve. It can be corrected with a simple key sequence: 1)AC switch on 2)Hold display button on remote for 4 Sec. 3)Using arrow keys Left Up Left Right. 4) Power On. The panel is now in factory mode but the trap switch flag is not cleared! 5) Mute x4 6) Display –hold for 4 Sec.7) turn the whole thing off and your good. If you came here, as I did, seeking help with a software issue, I applaud your do-it-yourself spirit. Be warned however there is 270VDC on some plates within this panel so be careful and if you are not the least bit scared by this …. Give your head a shake! A most useful document for the Pioneer PDPs is the Service manual. I have a 4340 so the Part No. is ARP3147 and is available from Pioneer USA for around $40.

Hey "It's my first day" Aren't you special.....now how do you do the other 50 models of Pioneer? I guess you will help pay for the damage when someone uses these incomplete and incorrect directions on the wrong model and destroys the set.
I also send the correct info to about 2-3 people every week that ask nicely and deserve it. I have only refused a couple of times and that was when someone sent me a rude email demanding I send the info right away. Like it was my fault they were screwing with something they should not have...

Hey “It’s my soap box” so you install TVs for a living is that it. So do you like go to the store and get all excited when the sales guy puts the new box in your car then you drive to Mrs. Johnsons house and of course you take your wife with you, so she can read all those complicated words in the manual while you try to work the level. Of coarse then you have to figure out how all those complicated plugs work, match up all the colors. Then after all that you have to show Mrs. Johnson how to work all those buttons on the remote! There is a defined reason why people consult the internet to solve home appliance problems, they can. You’re fooling yourself if you think trap switches and lock codes are going to keep you in business. I can do it, anyone can, and if anyone can you’re done. You want to get up on your soap box and make us all feel humbled by your vast technical expertise; it won’t last and it won’t justify your shallow existence.

Huh? Dude, this info would not even be "out there" if I had not copied the page out of a service manual and sent it to hundreds of people. If someone sent it to you then it probably came from the scan that I did. I never made a penny off this info but I did cough up big bucks for the service manual. Sorry most people are not as smart as you are. Googling this info and having that document emailed to you was sooo... hard.

I'm sure that you can do it but can others? I would say most of us or even all of us integrators are DEFINITELY not in business to fix harvey homeowner trap switches.

Please can you go away quietly and come back when you have something positive to say. Insulting CCD's intelligence is bad decorum especially when you imply he has to bring his wife with him to read a manual. Your coarse language needs to end, you've insulted everyone here.

Here is the way for PDP 4270HD, just did it!

1)AC switch on 2)Hold display button on remote for 4 Sec. 3)Using arrow keys Left Up Left Right. 4) Power On. (the plasma will power up in service mode) 5) use the arrow to cycle to the password screen (I think default password is 1234) 6) it should unlock and the red led will turn off. You are ready to go. Thanks everyone and fix4fun4u, couldn't have done it without your help!!!
