It is interesting to see many with the same problem. I have a Pioneer PRO-1120HD (pro-505pu display and a pro-r05u media center) which has the annoying noisy fans in the breakout box. I too am a victim of the "trap switch" when I opened the PRO-R05U. Unfortunately I am stuck in "standby mode" (and I still have the noisy fans). If any one knows how to "trap switch reset" or get into the service menu of a PRO-R05U it would be greatly appreciated. [email protected]

press the INFO button wait 4 secs then press left, up, left, right and power back on. The set should power on after that: go into inialize mode ( mute) ( -> ) final setup ( enter )
remember to enable HDMi in mainmenu again

Hello, What is a Trap Switch? I have a Pioneer PDP-R06U and I hooked up Directv yesterday and now I can't shut my tv completely off. When I turn the remote for the TV or Directv off neither will shut if off. It goes off but the light switches back and forth to on and standby (red and blue) Any ideas what the problem is please. Thanks, cdshim

A "trap switch" is an interlock switch that opens when the back cover of a plasma TV (or other device) is opened. Rather than just automatically resetting when closed, a key code must be entered on the remote (usually) to reset the "trap".

First of all don't take the back panel off unless you have a GOOD reason to do so. To prevent the trap switch from engaing simply unplug the power cable before removing the back panel. Once you have the back off locate the switch and tape it down. That will allow you to power up the panel to test it for whatever you are doing back there. Again DO NOT remove the panel unless you are professionally trained and know what you are doing. Before replacing the back panel unplug the power cable, replace the panel, power the panel up and if all went well you should be good to go. If not request the the reset info.
