i got the new ps3 blu ray remote that works with TV's as well this one [Link: bestbuy.com] and i'm trying to get it to work with my HDTV which is a Viore model LC22VH55 the codes they included in the manual don't list one for viore i tried akai since i heard they were similar, but it didn't work any help is appreciated.

I can't find a manual for that, but knowing the typical Sony OEM remote it will have a very limited range of televisions that it can control. It can only operate Sony amps and merely uses the word "most" for televisions, so it's a PS3 remote first and a universal remote somewhere around fifth. :-)

If there's a code search option I would try that, but otherwise there will be nothing you can do to make it operate a television that it doesn't know about.

thanks for the info yes there is a code search, but it doesn't seem to pick up anything either i guess i'll just use it for my PS3 only
