TSU9400, when left on the dock overnight, is found to be off in the morning. Power cycle via sliding side switch brings it back to life. If not on the dock overnight then it is just fine in the morning with almost a full charge. Is this a problem with the dock or the remote? I am hoping dock so I can just replace it.

You also did not mention what firmware you were using on the remote. Is it the latest? You said the remote was on the dock. Is the dock plugged into the computer and then you turn off the computer with the remote seated in the dock? If so, remove the remote from the dock before turning off the computer. I've seen this happen with my TSU9600 in the past. Otherwise, might try getting another unit off ebay and testing. I saw one available a few days back. Not sure of the cost. Lyndel

firmware: 7.3.3 Remote has been working fine all these years. This behavior only started a few days ago. No computer connected.

Do a complete reload of the firmware. While booting hold Firm2, Firm3, Firm4 to initial what is a full download. At this point, reload 7.3.3 firmware. Then after that is done, download your configuration to the remote again. [Link: remotecentral.com]

If you remove the remote from the dock, how long does it stay on? Sounds like you may need a new battery or something else possibly hardware related is going on.

Battery health is fine - I don't put it on the dock anymore and battery indicator goes down about a notch in two days. Hardware related - dock or remote? Also, not getting email notifications for your replies...

Check your spam folder to see if they are going there and also and check your email addy on this site. There may be some setting in your profile that needs to be re-enabled? Daniel Tonks is your contact for problems with that. If you don't put the remote in the dock anymore, then I would think it would be hardware problems with the remote. I'm also a bit confused as the title of this thread says 'turns off by itself while on dock' Several things you might want to check before taking the plunge in a new unit. Do you perhaps have any ProntoScript in the home page that could be going into an endless loop? Next, once you have to power cycle the remote. When it comes back on, is the battery level full? If your screen is good then you might want to try for some parts. I also have a PDF where someone describes how to disassemble this unit. When pulling it apart, you must be careful regarding the PageUp/Down and Backlight buttons on the side. If you rip it apart too quickly, you can break the solder joints on the switches. I must admit I only ever disassembled 1 TSU9400 and I have not had one in my possession in many years.

I'm also a bit confused as the title of this thread says 'turns off by itself while on dock' Over several nights the remote was put on the dock at night. By morning the remote was off. This behavior started about 1.5 weeks ago with no changes made to the remote. Because of the behavior of discovering it off in the morning I have stopped putting the remote on the dock. The remote remains on and the battery hardly drains. Do you perhaps have any ProntoScript in the home page that could be going into an endless loop? Next, once you have to power cycle the remote. When it comes back on, is the battery level full? No changes had been made to the remote since October of last year. Per your instructions I did reload the firmware and configuration yesterday. Remote was off again this morning since I put it on the dock last night to test. Yes, the battery was full when turned back on.

But the dock is charging the remote, correct? I assume it is for the remote would be drained by now. I have had some strange behaviors in the past with my TSU-9800, turned out to be the AC adapter for the dock.

Buy the dock from ebay. You will have a spare and can compare the behavior.

did you buy an extra dock? Not yet - the workaround is to not put the remote on the dock till it needs charging. I did send the seller a message asking if they would accept a best offer - no response. $55 seems steep.
