The last time I edited bitmaps/graphics for my Pronto TSU9400 was many, many years ago, long before Adobe moved to a subscription program for Photoshop. When Adobe moved to a subscription program, my Photoshop software eventually became out of date with newer OS versions, and I didn't really have a need to use it anymore. Anyway, I want to make some minor changes to graphic/bitmap images used with Pronto. Anyone have any recommendations for cheap/free editors to use?

Gimp.

[Link: gimp.org]

Note that I still use Paintshop Pro 8. Noel Blackman I think used PSP9 for a while and now uses the Corel equivalent.

Thanks! I'll try gimp and if I need more, I'll try Paintshop Pro.

Paint Shop Pro is more intuitive and easier to figure out than GIMP. You can also pick up a physical copy of PSPX5 (15) for something like $20 on eBay.

Ask me anything about PSP you like, I know it as well as the guy who wrote it (and I know the guy who wrote it).

I tried gimp, and it was fine for an icon I had to modify. But yeah, even though the concepts of modifying graphics (layers, selection, etc.) are similar across graphics programs, some things I wanted to do wasn't intuitive and took longer than I had hoped. I think I'll try PSP next.
