Hi Everybody,
It's been a while needing assistance with from this forum which has always been a great source for the Proto users. I have a Denon receiver and would like to slow the rate of repeat for the vol up and down codes. I have imported my code for vol up in IrScrutinizer and have the decode and IRP but I can't figure if it is possible to modify to make the repeat go about half speed.
Thanks.

Code:
0000 006D 0000 0020 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0679 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0679

Decode:
Denon: {D=2,F=241}, beg=0, end=63, reps=1

IRP:
{38.0k,263,msb}<1,-3|1,-7>(A:15,1,-43.572m,B:15,1,-43.572m)*{A=0x223c,B=0x21c3}

(What model? I am a Denon user myself ;-)).

In principle, just try increasing one or both of the long delays ("0679") in the Pronto Hex code and see if it works. Exactly what the Denon accepts and do not accept probably no-one knows (and it may differ between models and possibly even among firmware versions).

To be more explicit: increase one or both of the "0679" and see if you achieve the desired result. Note that this is a four-digit hexadecimal number, so doubling it gives 0cf2, not 1358.

(Of course, you can also modify the IRP accordingly (increase one of both of 43.572) and re-render with IrScrutinizer/IrpTransmogrifier, but the result will be the same.)

Please tell us the outcome.

As Barf suggests, you can tweak that last number. However, based on what I know about the Pronto IR engine and Denon codes, you might want to try one additional thing.

Try to change and the code as follows such that a short press is sent exactly 1 time and a longer press will go into repeats.

0000 006D 0020 0020 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0679 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0679 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0679 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0679

Hi Guys,
I have the Denon AVR-X4500H. I do wish the amp section could shut down when using external amp like the newer models but other than that it is great. Although this is my second as the first had terminal failure about 2 weeks in.

The current code works to short press for minimum increase (0.5db) and hold for continuous increase but the increase rate on hold is very fast and hard to get just right. I think half speed would be about right. I'll try doubling the 0679 individually and in combination to see what I get.

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hi Guys,
Changing either of the 0679 did slow down the repeat rate about the same. Changing both slowed it down even more and just how I wanted.

I can't believe this device was not a runaway hit resulting in new models today.

Thanks again,
H

At the time when most consumer electronics assembly was migrating offshore, some local labor laws made moving Pronto to offshore production economically infeasible for Philips. It was cheaper to shut down the whole operation. Also it was beginning to seem like remote control would morph into inexpensive Apps and the programmable remote business would shrink anyway.

There was a time when eliminating that coffee table full of remotes was worth some money for enough people to build a viable business. Now, we have voice control remotes packed with self install cable company boxes and all of the peripheral devices are gone. True, there can be a phone packed with Apps that one needs to fumble through, but the kids seem to welcome fondling that phone.
