Hello everyone.
I've got a problem: my TSU 9400 suddenly doesn't boot anymore. While switching on the RC with the on/off at the side it hangs while showing the white screen with Philips on it. I don't get the touchpanel anymore. Does anybody has an idea what to to?

1. Try a complete firmware reload (instructions are within this forum).

2. If that does not work, disassemble it (instructions can likely still be found in this forum). Reseat the connector for the display and hope it works.

I started with step 2:
dissasembling and reconnecting the touch panel. No success.
When turning on the Pronto the white screen with blue letters PHILIPS appears but then, normally after a few seconds it should dim off and the boot process should start. That didn't happen. The white screen with blue letters remained.
I searched for firmware reload here in the forum. Accordingly I should turn on the Pronto while pressing Firm2, Firm3, Firm4 simultaneously, this will put the unit into 'complete firmware' mode. Where are Firm2, Firm3, Firm4  to press on my Pronto?
I launched Pronto Edit Prof. and I wanted to access the remote while the white screen was displayed. Pronto Edit told me: the Pronto is currently in settings mode. Please press exit on the Pronto and retry.
What does that mean? What can I do now?

You don't install firmware from PEP, you install firmware using the Firmware installer.

But as it says is in settings mode, this may not work.

Problem resolved.
But it was not so easy as described here.
I had to complete the following steps to make a full firmware reload:
  1. Connect Philips Pronto with the PC by USB cable
  2. Switch on Philips Pronto an wait till the white screen with PHILIPS appears and booting stops
  3. Start the TSU Updater program an press next
  4. TSU Updater says "Problems connecting with the Control Panel"
  5. Then click on Troubleshoot
  6. Reset the Pronto with the Reset-Key-Combination (Home + Menu + Page up).
  7. After that while booting starts, instantly press the Firmware-Download-Key-Combination (the 3 middlemost buttons beyond the touchscreen) all together for at least 2 seconds
  8. The message „Application Firmware Download mode, normal operation not possible“ should appear on the Pronto screen.
  9. Simultaneously in TSU Updater program the formerly greyed repair button should turn to black = active
  10. Press repair in TSU Updater the an the update procedure should start.

I responded to your other thread. Firm1, Firm2, Firm3, Firm4, and Firm5 on the TSU9400 really mean the silver/gray physical Hard Buttons below the screen.

The Complete firmware reload is exactly the steps you called out here. I'm a bit confused as to why you said not as easy as described here.

Glad you are up and running.

Not easy, because you have to start the Pronto by the Reset-Key-Combination (not by hard button ON) and pressing Firmware-Download-Key-Combination while the TSU Updater program is waiting in "troubleshoot mode".
For me it only worked in this way.
This is not documented anywhere in this special way. Isn't it? Now it is!

Jauno,

I guess all these years I've just done it without thinking about that first part where you press Home, Menu, Page+ and then have to quickly press Firm 2, 3, 4.

Thanks so much for the clarification. I now understand.
