Hi,

Just picked up a non working TSU9600. Managed to get the bugger open, and found a couple of things that may be causing problems.

The switch for the backlight is completely missing (1108) on B-Side of the board, and one of the what looks like earthing strips has fell away (1702) also on B-Side of the board.

I still have the earthing strip and should be able to re-solder that into place.

What I need to know is what type of switch is required at 1108?

I'm tempted to solder over the link, to see if that makes any difference.

Currently when you attach the unit to my working docking station, the charge light does not light up, but there is power getting through to the main board, as all of the LED's remain lit. I can confirm this, as the LED's remain lit when you remove the internal battery. This is currently reading 3 volts, and should be 3.7, so at that level would not power the unit in itself.

This leads me to think that if I resolve the issue with the backlight button, I may have a fighting chance.

Can anyone who has opened up their TSU9600 advise what type of switch/button is used at 1108 on Side B, and also how it is soldered in. It looks to be a two point connector, but I have nothing to compare against. I do not want to disassemble my other fully working 9600.

If anyone has the circuit diagram available, that would be most appreciated.

Don't want to send it in for service, as they will simply recommend replacing the main board, and that is not a worthwhile option for me (cost wise).

Thanks in advance.

Cheers, Lee

You will not find a circuit diagram available unless you are an authorized dealer/repair center and have access to service manual.

I now have the Service Manual, which is next to useless. It doesn't have a circuit diagram.

I have resoldered the earth strip into place and patched across the two pin backlight switch, and the backlight stays on with the battery.

Looking at the circuit board, I can't see a fuse, so definately doesn't seem to be an easy one to fix at the moment.

Service Wide won't take a look, as I'm based in the UK. :-(

A UK supplier has quoted £350 to repair it, but as it doesn't have a docking station or mains adaptor, and has a few light scratches, that's not really an option at the moment.

Good for spares I guess, unless there are any other ideas from here?

Cheers, Lee
