Hello,

I'm programming a house with two RFX9600. They both have static IPs and so do all the TSU9600 in use. Nothing conflicts with anything, and they also have their own wifi channel (11) whereas the Sonos' installed in the house are on (1) so that there is no interference.

For some reason, 50% of the time, they freeze and the "busy" led stays on for some time, before it goes off so that the remote can be used again. I've notices that this happens whenever a serial port is used, whether it is the 3 LG tvs that are on the second processor, or the Denon AVR and AMX switch on the first processor. It is so inconsistent that i cant narrow down the reason to the cause of this. Everything might work for 10 minutes, and then continuously freeze on every button press for the next to minutes. when it does work ok, everything responds fine. I've disconnected any other equipment from the network, removed WPA and made it as simple as possible to find the problem.

Any ideas, help ?

Much appreciate it.

Which extender firmware version and control panel firmware version are you using ?

What kind of interaction are you performing over the serial port ? Simple sending of strings as set in PEP2, or some kind of polling using ProntoScript ?

If you are NOT running latest RFX9600 firmware, please install it. Serial match, send, receive have memory leaks on previous firmware versions that would cause things to hang for a while. So does 1-way 232 and IR. So, please install latest RFX9600 firmware and post back.

Thanks,
Lyndel

I had problems with my RFX9600 and I would see the busy light on for ages.

In my particular case, the RFX9600 10M Ethernet connection just didn't play nice in the rest of the network environment running IPv6 hidefinition video streaming. I resolved the issue by installing a seperate wireless router and connect the RFX9600 and the Pronto to a seperate network and connect the WAN port to the rest of the network thus allowing the Pronto to connect to the Internet as well.

Since I put this in place, connectivity between the Pronto and RFX9600 has been rock solid.

By the sounds of it, your problem is not related to the network, but if your firmware is up to date, I would start looking at the network.

Microsoft Network Monitor allows you to capture and analyze network data and may help you to get a better idea on what is happening on your network.

Hello everyone, I do apologize for not responding despite all your help and advice. Had some trouble with another project that had to finish urgently. Regarding my pronto issue ive posted on this thread, i found the problem. There was another machine on the network, one of the childrens' PCs that kept asking for the same IP as one of my TSU9600s, so as soon as i changed that, everything was fixed. Everything is on the latest firmware, since i always update them before i start programming, and its been two weeks now without problems for the customer. Once again, thank you very much for all the input.

FYI, In the Level II Certification test-prep materials on Philips website, there's a PDF with info as to what lights flash on the unit when there is a conflicting IP address.
