clients still having drop out errors on remote . .

cant disable this?
i tried a different channel,
he's seperated by a thin wall of sheetrock,
and about 15 feet ..

im gonna try and move it to behind the tv. .

but still a pain that the error comes up all the time.
he says 1 out of 5 times it comes up (button presses)

any other solutions?

Man, I wish I would have seen this thread a few weeks ago. Amazon has them at $175 now. D'oh.

By drop outs you mean RF "command Failures"? You know how to check signal strength right? I see these more than I'd like, but usually 1 in about 20-30 commands. It was worse before I upgraded the firmware. The Command failure rate does go up near the edge of the range.

My latest theory (for in range failures) is that the unit goes into sleep mode if not used and takes a second to wake up. My failures are usually the first command after laying it down for awhile. When upstairs and separated by about 25 feet, a floor and 2 sheetrock walls it is about 1 in 10. The signal strength is on the edge in that situation.

Considering a Harmony replacement.

Can the 9200 remember device states like the Harmony?
For example:
- Devices with no discrete on/off commands.
- Devices that can only cycle through inputs.

Can the 9200 switch between activities in one button press, and correctly turn whatever needed on/off, use the right inputs/outputs, etc?

Does the 9200 offer more fine-tuning to the customization than the Harmony?
How advanced can the programming be?

They are coming out with a 9300. It will compliment the 94/96/98 and be able to use all the extenders they do. I told a Philips rep at a training class that I will not be able to implement the entire Pronto family until they come out with a cheap "kids room/bar/My drunk friend dropped it while playing pool" remote. We currently use the 810 for this on UR installs with access to all the better remotes can use. After this he blabbed about the 9300 coming out.

He did not give a time frame but little birdies have told me it is soon.

That is funny. I just did a small HT job and I could use the Sony BluRay all devices but could not use the Panny Plasma all devices. Very strange.

No it doesn't but that doest matter as much any more. The reality is that over time more manufacturers are providing discretes for most functions even when they have toggle selects.

Harmony doesn't use magic to determine the on/off state - I presume its user synchronized state tracking.

You might consider downloading the software and checking out the 1Remote download to see if discretes exist for your components.

Absolutely. You have to program it to do so.

Thats too vague to respond to but most likely. Name something specific that you think the 9200 needs to do. Keep in mind this like a structured programing version of the Pronto Series until the Pro series.

Again a little vague, its 7 out of 10. If you want animated icons it wont do that.

You might check my 9200 download problems posted here elsewhere - very elusive problem, usually related to non specific delays on the general macro and power buttons.

Well that explains PART of the Amazon end of 2008 price drop to $103 but not the bounce back to $175. They will probably release it 60 days after the US economy recovers in a ...... (Hopefully soon).

Anyone have an idea why the one way control doesn't work for me?

It may not matter to you but it does matter to those that want to control older equipment that does not respond to discrete codes.

I don't know how they implemented it exactly, but eventually it boils down to a bunch of persistent variables.

Can you suggest a remote can do that? Preferably in the 9200 price range (and with lots of hard buttons).

I've been asking about discrete commands for my components for a while. Got some suggestions, asked the Harmony support to program them in, never got the equipment to respond as expected.

As I understand it, a lot of the devices in the same line use the same IR "language" but not every device responds to every command.

Sorry, I am not familiar with the terminology.

How will animated icons help control my equipment?

Basically, what I am looking for is something like the Harmony but with macros, off-line programmability and the ability to program myself what currently can only be done by the Logitech tech support on their end.

And yes, "synchronized state tracking" or suchlike is important.

I'll be surprised if get a reply as this thread is very old but have an issue with creating my own button on my new TSU9200. I've mastered programming all the Professional range using PEP1,2 and 3 but the configuration software for this isn't very logical.
