I've had my Philips smart tv for 2 years and for some reason the TV is glitching out. The TV stopped taking inputs so I'd take out the batteries thinking it was the controller, but I'd look up to the tv and the volume is going up and down on it's own. It's currently https://nox.tips/ at 100 volume and I can't find a way to lower it or find a way of controlling the TV via universal controller. I'm not sure what to do.
Check the other remotes on the room, stuck in the cushions, under book? Sounds like IR interference, the Philips commands get stuck in feedback loop of the other remote's constant IR signal, it takes a ride.
Also, check what lights are hitting the IR receiver on the TV. I have seen fluorescent light bulbs change channels and volume on a TV before. Easy way to test is turn off all the lights in the room and make sure the windows are covered, see if it still does it.
There is a spot on the TV that receives infrared transmissions. Typically, they will be incorporated in a central logo or the power button. As a test, you can block this area with a piece of cardboard to prove that the issue is caused by external infrared emissions. Note that a single layer of tape might not block all infrared energy.
