After lots of research and long telephone conversations I found this device. Basically it is a wifi to ir converter. You send all the codes via wifi from your iphone/ipad, it ios converted to ir then blasts them back at your devices. Someone who had good knowledge of this device said he could position the emitter in line of sight anywhere in the room an it worked great

Check out bitwisecontrols.com. Their BC4 unit and project editor software make a great solution for any of the Apple devices. I just ordered one last week and I am pretty impressed.. The editor software needs a little polishing but it is one of the first releases . I talked to a couple of the guys over there and they seem like real propeller heads and I am sure many good things are on the way.

TouchControl has native control for all of the Global Caché adapters, including learning/trimming/blasting IR commands, and support for the serial and relay (contact closure) modules. Plus so many other things you can do with Touch IR+, you'll be amazed at the power. Check out the web site and get the free PC designer software here: http://www.touchapptech.com.
