That wind indicator is part of an AMX module for their iWeather service. Unfortunately it wouldn't do you much good unless you are also an AMX dealer.

In essence though all it is, is a background with a needle laid over it for wind direction, one for each point of the compass - 16 in total. Then there is one style of needle for windy, one for breezy - for a total of 32. Whatever system you are using, you'd just have to figure out the way to allocate each direction to a bitmap.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. I just cannot find a decent set of arrows and a background that I like. CQC can handle the enumerated image aspect (ie show a specific arrow for each potential wind direction). But I have to find images that I like.

Season 2 has come to an end. Not many entries this time around but definitely some cool stuff. I have to figure out this contest stuff to draw more attention. Maybe we need to have better prizes :). Anyone with an entry please PM me with your shipping address and choice of prize.

If you're getting one of those I'll definitely be participating. (preferably the iPad of course ;))

Looks great. I have been holding off waiting for crestron to get their act together with landscape in vtpro. I think i might just keep it portrait now that i see this screenshot.

Hey Stamp,

I thought I would like landscape better on the iPad and went through all the work of converting my BitWise project to be viewable both ways, I find myself using portrait most of the time, plus I like to keep it on the "official" Apple dock most of the time, so it jumps to portrait anyways.

I know there are a lot of die hards out there that detest the iPad and what it has done to touch panel sales, but I will never go back to my MVP-8400. The biggest gripe from is you have to wait for the app to launch but BitWise fires up in less than a second and CommandFusion takes about 3.5 seconds.

Since you are a Crestron guy, you should take a look at CF as it can tie directly into Simpl. And I know you have the skills to create the GUIs. The swipe menus are really easy to set up and configure so you can go wild on them.

The major issue i have is that the programmers now have to work in 2 programs instead of 1. Some are using Command Fusion already and others are waiting it out for VTPro updates.

I am at a job now in AZ now where 2 iPad's are joining the 4 TPMC-8X's and 6 TPMC-10's at the last minute. With command fusion i can mimic the 800X600 panels exactly but if i want these panels working before i leave then i have to use the creston gui because the programmer has already used it.

I am completely and totally DONE DONE DONE with control system wi-fi panels. iPad from now on. Lighter/sleeker/better display/better wi-fi range/better battery/fraction of the cost. My goal is and always has been to provide the client with a COOL system. The iPad lets me do that.

As far as "the sky is falling" fear about touchpanel sales....... Its not like that money vanishes when its not used for a touchpanel. Now instead of spending 50k in wi-fi panels you can sell the client shades or a projector or better speakers in every room of the house.

Initially i assumed the connection delay would be similar to my iPhone3G. But my iPhone4 and iPad are nearly instant when the app is launched so thats a non issue for me now.

Back to the job i am at. The ipad's next to the control system panels is crazy. Its like looking at a type writer next to a laptop.

iPad's great, just as long as you have it launched and ready when you need to use it. Never would work in a commercial environment...unless of course you could disable the home button...

This is the iPad gui i am working on. Its almost done, just have to make custom activity butons to replace the 'borrowed' pronto buttons.

Some info

- The power and zone lists fade in
- The power list displays if a zone is active ( zone name becomes blue )
- When a active zone is pressed on the power list, it powers down
- The scrolling lists left and right move in from each side when a zone is
   selected
- When a activity is selected the lists stay hidden to the sides untill the
button under the list is selected

Stamp,

Loving the iPad too..... it's been about two weeks now and I dont miss the 8.4" one bit. A hard button press and a one seond wait to launch the interface is no hassle when I'm using the iPad for something else.

I dont understand why everyone thinks using it in place of a dedicated touch panel is a big deal. Clients are never going only use them for automation control, thats the whole point. I still wonder why does Crestron put apps on thier panels.... is it a touch panel or a device for web browsing and using Skype?

But you already can disable the home button!

This is the tuturial i use

- jailbreak iPad
- complete update cydia
- find and install : incarcerapp, and sbsettings
- install tap to unlock

Tap to unlock  installs winterboard, in wb, themes tap.sliders.english

If you use this tutorial you can disable the homebutton  ( you can set a code with the volume butons to exit/lock the app ) and you can tap to unlock, so no slider.

Enjoy!

In a commercial environment i would assume they would grow legs often.
