Title says it all. I'm experimenting with some things. Just curious if anyone else is or not?

I am not a fan of gesture control. I tried it with boxee but i found that i had to keep looking at my iPhone/iPad anyway. I would rather have arrows to navigate the UI and transport buttons to play pause stop. I think gesture control works well on fixed touchpad mice because its stationary and serves a single purpose. With an iPhone or iPad you accidentally (because you are not looking at the device) touch the wrong area and you are now in the angry birds app and your gesture controls are not working.

Also... for right now i am against gesture navigation. Swiping may work well on the iPad and a couple of touchpanel models but it doesn't work on everything and there is no advantage to swiping vs hitting a next arrow or a page tab so IMO its not worth implementing. My attitude/opinion about this will change over the next 24 months. Hopefully by then our clients will all be iOS/Android savvy meaning they will expect swiping and know how to use it. And hopefully by then it works flawlessly with all control system touchpanels.

sorry, I didn't mean gestures like boxee did or how Apple TV does. Our main large Touchpanel is the iPad. Because you get use to gesture based lists and swiping on an iPad having to press page up/down to scroll through a list feels a bit wired.

So I've been working on a gesture list for squeezebox with Crestron on ipad. I only have 10 lines implements (about 6 shown) the 11th line says "more". My wife still prefers it to the up/down buttons. And it makes the interface "feel" nicer.

The problem is the squeezebox module only gives me 10 lines of inderect text feedback which is why I have the "MORE" at the 11 line in the list. It's basically press the "page down" button, but still feels like a gesture scrolling list.

I agree though that having some interfaces (ipad) use it while other in-walls or handhelds don't may be confusing. I find we are putting more and more keypads in for the standard basic, quick control functions and then relying on IOS devices for more elaborate control of multizone.

For scrolling lists swiping would work fine because the client has to look at it anyway. We use arrows and a slider to scroll lists.

As of right now. CommandFusion has the smoothest version of swipe / gesture control I have seen.....

Core 3 UI is very nicely done and coming along, as Crestron is widening support for it.  Obviously there are hardware and application limitations that should be considered, but all things being equal an interface that provides dynamic smooth interaction is stunning.

i'm itching for some updated videos and samples of people making use of Core 3 UI with just VTPro. I've seen some cool stuff with CF and Crestron, but like to see what VTP can do as well.

I've worked with it, and it's impressive.

Check YouTube, and type in "Core 3 UI" in the search box.  There's a few videos if you haven't seen them already.
