So I had this script like 3 years ago that a co-worker found and gave to me. It basically exported every single graphic from the RTI library and created a bmp or jpg of each one so they could be used in other software.

And of course I don't have it anymore. Anyone know of this and where I can get it?

Thanks

No, we don't know where you can get a script to extract copyrighted graphics that RTI paid an arm and a leg for. Maybe do a google search for "how I can illegally extract copyright graphics from an encrypted file?"

Old post but for future reference, there are several free and some paid programs that hunt for a variety of image formats embedded with large files. They then extract the images and save them individually. Use programs like Bitmaprip, X-ripper, and MultiExtractorPro. Seem this discussion thread about the topic.

There is another post in this forum that also references this in regards to extracting and then re-sizing channel icons from the Oasis template. Free programs from GUIFX, like CoPilot, can then resize what you want if you place the new size icon in the directory you are working with, click on it, and then export and convert all the other images to that same size. This is not a copyright infraction and is not illegal. Get real!

I have tried them all and they work great...Glad I can help.

It is interesting how terms are loosely used on this site in an effort to scare people off and sometimes give the impression on creating turf wars. It is no wonder many have concerns about using programmers in this field of business.

If you read the fair use laws from the Copyright department 2009 publication on page 6 you will understand things a bit more clearly. Personal use that are not intended for commercial purposes or mass production is allowed, especially if you already own the graphics. You can thus extract and use what you want for yourself.

Most of the graphics found in integration designer are licensed from a third party. The RTI copyright department has zero say in how those graphics are used outside of integration designer.

If you are going to pirate graphics go ahead and do it but please refrain from trying to justify theft.

Here's a hint Einstein: When a program has the word "Rip" or "X" in it's name chances are it can be interpreted to be illegal or dishonest. Nobody is creating a turf war here. Besides with your 10 months and 11 posts what have you contributed here? Is providing a list of ripping programs the best you have? The truth is those Bitmap extraction programs have been mentioned many times around here. Now go shove your head in the copyright law book and come back when you have something useful and more importantly original around here.

Flaming and perverse language should be censored and not tolerated on any forum.

The length of time and number of posts that one is a member does not give you a right to be behave the way you do. You have know idea as to my background or abilities but only make loose accusations not grounded in real facts.

The name of a program does not connotate its legality. Ripping is a commonly used phrase word. Here is a brief definition for you lexicon.
Ripping is the process of copying audio or video content to a hard disk, typically from removable media. The word is used to refer to all forms of media. Despite the name, neither the media nor the data is damaged after extraction.

Just to remind you, there are laws that guide us as to what is allowed and simply following them is easy. However, making statements that dont reflect what is common law seems absurd. Elaborating further seems to be meaningless to some of you.

What laws are you reading that allow you to extract 3rd party licensed graphics from software... that doesn't offer that ability natively?

It makes me sad to see this type of reasoning. The graphical guys that work hard and long hours on this product package it and sell it licensed to a company like RTI, Crestron, Bitwise Controls, etc. only to see it man-handled by a program in my opinion that bypasses encryption that is intended to protect that property no matter what reason. It's just sad. I can't imagine how I would feel if I was talented as some of these guys and I not only had my product "ripped" off, but have a clown broadcast specific procedures on how to do so.

I don't mean this as a flame and intend it in the best possible way, but this guy has absolutely no talent whatsoever and resorts to trying to show how smart he is by disclosing tips on how to obtain licensed property for free. What's even worse is his pitiful attempt to explain the letter of the law, which by the way, is put in place to protect people and the property they own and have a right to sell. It's not for people to rip people off as long it's for "personal use".

It starts and ends in the same place.

RTI does not offer the ability to "extract" their graphics.

You can pay for the original graphic set from the creators.

Any other means to obtain the graphics, would be outside of the intentions of the creators and distributors.

If you aren't willing to pay for the graphics, from the creators, then your attempt to obtain them otherwise would be considered stealing.

Seems pretty simple to me.

Ok, let's break this down so you can understand it better.

Personal use that are not intended for commercial purposes

"Commercial purposes", using the removed graphics in a remote for a customer is indeed "commercial purposes". Why else would you want them?

or mass production is allowed, especially if you already own the graphics.

O
Here's the other flaw in your fantasy. You DO NOT OWN Integration Designer, RTI does. You license the right to use it.

You can thus extract and use what you want for yourself.

Since you don't own the software, you DO NOT have the right to extract what you want from it.

It is theft. Just because you aren't walking out of a store with a pilfered item in hand, doesn't make it any less a crime.

Just ask Kaleidiscape how this interpretation is working for them. And in their case, you actually do buy the media and it is for personal use.
"You can't fix stupid."
