also on IP -

I'm looking for ideas and examples of GUI's for the PTX3/TPMC-3X/240x320 remotes. The T2C is 240x320 but I think its a smaller screen than the X3/3X

Is anyone willing to post some screen shots or samples of their GUI's or GUI's that they feel are done well.

I'm not thrilled with Destiny for our Prodigy projects and have been working on some other layouts. One thing I don't like about Destiny and letting SB program it is the Source Selection page and scrolling list. I think its the wide buttons that are too short. It only shows Four sources at a time, so I think a more square button that a person finger would fit inside of would be more appealing.

I have one client in particular that isn't liking the remote. The system is working fine (other than the PTX3's needing random reboots as with every other job, but thats another discussion) SO, I'm assuming its the graphic layout.

I just got all the Mobile Pro G iPad graphics and started working on a version for the PTX3. Right now I'm using a modified Destiny template so that it will work if I let SB build my pages, however I'm thinking I will start building my pages myself.

Here are some shots of what I have so far.

THe DVR with the blank black boxes is for the Channel Icon Presets, the Top blue number would represet the Souce Selected.

With 240X320 you cant really get revolutionary with navigation. I think everyone uses a home page just like you have it. I use my home page to enter into sub sections also so to get to blu-ray its Home/Video/Bluray. To get to security cameras its Home/Security/CCTV.

I cant remember but whats that MORE logo graphic for? Does it slide out or is it just the note telling you to use the side trigger. I would lose that. The side trigger (when it works) is super intuitive so no point in wasting the space for the note.

This is the gallery for my 240X320 template. You can see examples of button layout for typical sources. [Link: guijaboard.com]

I made this iPhone style template a while ago. Its not a direct copy of the iPhone on purpose but it mimics it. Maybe just a brighter template is what the client is after?

Finally.. i just did the iPad iPod and im really digging the new navigation bars for the ipod. I might update the other smaller screens to this. Scroll thru the ipad screenshots and towards the back you will see the ipod screenshots.

Mac's right, there's not a lot of room for creativity in layout style for screens this size. The most important thing is to make sure the screen real estate that is there is usable. What you have there looks about right.

The 3x is 2.8" and the T2-c is 2.4" so the size is pretty much as near as makes no difference when working at this size. If you're creating buttons for both, make them big enough for the smaller screen and then they'll be fine for the larger one.

For optimum clarity of the graphics make sure you're not stretching or squashing any of the buttons in VTPro as it doesn't handle this well.

Also, always take into account what hard buttons are available to you as duplicating them on screen will just take up useful space.

For the 3x we currently have (click on the thumbnails for screenshots):

For the RTI T2-c we have:

Thats the same conclusion i came to back when it was called ApplicationBuilder. The problem with autogeneration magic is that when something breaks you have no idea how to fix it. Its like you have to be a CAIP to fix it. If you were a CAIP you wouldn't use SystemBuilder so....

Treat SystemBuilder like its integration designer. Build your own macros. Life will be much better.

@motech... what do you do for iPod docks or crestron xm/fm tuners? Do you let SystemBuilder generate the menu or do you do it yourself? This is the one thing i would let SB handle because i just didnt have time to figure out how to build the menus for these 2way devices.

That's cool, but I'm still trying to figure a good general layout for a PTX3 that would include at least local room load lighting control and possible room selection.

Yes it is. I do this often for 2way devices like the iPod & tuners. Mainly because i don't know enough to program them myself and i dont have time or interest in learning it via system builder.

My global preset macro and page flip are attached to the "source start up" button but once you get to the source menu the programming is autogenerated for those pages. I even skin the pages to match the in-house GUI.

How stamp? How do you dictate what pages to have built?

My guess is that you go to each device and unselect "build panel pages" except for on the devices you want.

This would be nice because I can put in the template data for my common devices, use my template file and all my IR commands would be routed for me. I would just leaving the switching, AVr and Display out of the mix so that I could do the macros myself.

Right now I'm trying to remember some of the feedback programming and how to make use of it, go to go back to my notes.

The GUI I posted above, I moved away from. By the time I added the name at the top, small text at the bottom for the top three hard keys and a small toolbar, it was way to crowded.

MIne's not a popup, just a page flip. These are the Mobile G graphics from the Crestron demo.

I build them myself. I start with the guifx template, add joins fornall feedback points and joins for control.
Once you do it once it's easy.

I also created a system with 90% of my usual equipment pre programmed including iPod dock, cables boxes, apple tv, blu ray, receiver and tv. All macros and page flips and feedback already setup.

Then at each small project, I open up that template system, save it as a new system right away, make the changes I need to taylor it to that job, assign status ip's in toolbox, and upload. I left out a few small details but that's basically what we do for small jobs.

What flash? The only thing flash are the galleries for products. I plan to change that out to a jquery gallery.
