I was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue to what I'm seeing.

I have a customer with Summit Broadband for cable service. Their boxes are made by Arris / Motorola, model DCX-3635-W (recorder) and IP815W (client).

In the room where we have the control setup, there are 2 client boxes. The code set from the database that works is the Moxi HD NVR code set, but it doesn't work perfectly. It will double press most of the time. The initial press will be OK, but subsequent presses are reliably a double press. So if you're trying to tap in channel 335, the first 3 will be OK, but the second 3 will spit out 3-3 real fast, which is no good.

It does this for all numbers as well as navigation, everything.

I don't have an IR learner at this time, so I'm wondering if it's a code set issue or something going on inside the box (it's a basic setup - iPad with an MC3).

Also - In de-bugger, I can fire a command and see that it only goes hi once, but the double press action still occurs.

Thanks

Something to try is run the numeric buttons through a one shot with 1T or 0.01s time.
For something like the cursor or Channel + / - I would run through an oscillator.
I have done this in the past with troublesome IR repeating commands.

The other thing to check is the repeat time, it has been a long time since I have looked at editing or making an IR file so don't remember if it is an easy thing to change.

Thanks for the reply. The customer is leaving this morning for a couple weeks in Europe, so I've got time to tinker with this one (and even get an IR learner!). I *did* start looking into the actual IR code, and yeah, that gets messy kinda quick.

FWIW - there's also a Roku in the system, being controlled by IR, and it does not do this.

I'll post up if I make any progress!

We have Shaw that has a Gateway system that uses Arris boxes. On 99% of them, the up, down, left, right will give a double pulse, sometimes the number pad as well. We always use one shots, haven't had a complaint in years.

That is awesome - thanks, I think I'm going to go that way with it.

Following up on this one.

I tried the one shot and it didn't work. I inserted it just before the device driver in SIMPL, but it acted the same as it did before. So I kept digging.

Turns out the Shaw Gateway codes that user apierre published several years ago worked. It's in the files section and is an excel document with the raw code in it. I had to create a new IR device in toolbox and copy the hex for each code. Tedious, but it worked like a charm!

That guys hasn't been here in several years, but I'm gonna try to drop him an email to say thanks!

I just used the old Creston IR learner and set repeats to 1 and multi code and it works awesome. No double pulses ever. If any body wants it, I'll try and load it to the files section
