I just purchsed a MX-900 Genesis remote from a online company called Pro Remotes. I have a Sony KDS55A2000 TV, Sony DVP-NS775V DVD Player, Yamaha HTR5760 Receiver, and a DirecTV HR20-700 DVR+HD Satellite Receiver. It appears that URC only has in their database is the Yamaha receiver. Having some problems finding the codes for the DVD player, TV, and the Satellite receiver. Does anyone have any information that might be able to help?

So far I am very disappointed with Pro Remotes and URC.

Thank you,

Steve

Just keep in mind, if you'd bought a "dumb" remote they wouldn't supply you with a code for your specific models either. They'd tell you to try all the manufacturer's codes until you find one that works.

Same applies to the MX remotes.

So, for instance, while there may not be an HR20-700 in the data base, other models of DirecTv gear use the exact same remote: for instance the H20 HD satellite receiver (non-DVR).

It'd be nice if URC updated their database more frequently, but especially with new equipment, they're going to be behind.

Thank you.

Yeah, pretty much except for the receiver and the DVD player are pretty new equipment. I was surprised though that my DVD player was not in their database.

I guess where I am really disappointed is that I paid Pro Remotes for the programming of my remote and had it shipped to me overnight and I am still waiting to have this thing programmed. I have this expensive piece of equipment just laying around the house and not able to use it.

You'll find that the DVD player will have its codes in another Sony DVD device.

URC's database is often labeled in a haphazard manner, but the codes will probably be there.

Now that it is Monday, let's hope Damon (Pro Remotes) can get your codes either from URC or from the files in the URC File section on this site or the Pronto files section on this site.
When ignorance is bliss, ‘tis folly to be wise.

So it seems Damon is the only one at Pro Remotes. Appears that I should of went with Tweeter and had them come out to my house and program this remote. I wonder if I can return this remote.

It would depend what they're planning to do for the money.

Your remote could be programmed in 5 minutes by just importing pages from the IR database. You could re-learn any codes that didn't work. It'd be the equivalent of any other store bought universal remote (edit: not made by Harmony).

But to set it up so it powers up just the gear you're using, selects the inputs, and adjusts settings as needed, let alone does fancy stuff like controls 2-zones ... that's a whole other matter.

OK..... The truth is you should have looked more into the remote before you bought it. It is obvious that you are a little over your head and should formulate some proper question about how to program the remote.

All of the equipment you listed would be a sinch for a CI to program. That is why URC has started their new policy. Bashing URC for your lack of education is very bad for URC. This is why they intend these remotes to be programmed by trained professionals. So for everyone on here that has said these remotes are easier than PC's take a look at this Thread.

I am very prepared to answer any question that you have about your remote if it doesnt involve bashing parties that provide assistance on this forum.

The thing is I did pay for Pro Remotes to program this remote if you would have read the postings. So please don't get all over me for not being a expert on this remote. What I had said was I am disappointed in Pro Remotes who I purchased this remote from and with the purchase I had paid them to program it also. I know this remote is over my head. So before you speak please read more.

I believe I even said that maybe I should have bought this from Tweeter which is a local company instead of using a online provider.

Please get your facts straight before posting slams

Steve,

I'm very disappointed to see that you neglected to post the fact that I spent over 45 minutes with you on the phone, providing technical support to you.

When you order something via UPS Next Day, that means after processing time, which is stated on most web sites - including ours. We shipped the remote he same day your oprder was placed and you received it the following day.

Programming is never sent with a remote, it is e-mailed separately and takes a few business days typically. You assumed that a fully programmed remote would show up the following day, giving us only a few hours to program it for you.

I just wanted to clarify those things.

Hopefully, you are enjoying the fully programmed remote.

Thank you,
Damon DG

I am pleased to say that my remote is all programmed and am loving the it. There are just a couple of bugs to work out but all and all it great.

To Damon, I had made this posting way before you had even agreed to setup the call and configure the remote. I do thank you though for all your hard work.

Steve,

Thanks! It was very nice of you to follow up and post an update.

It's been far too common for people to post negative things on here (in general), with no follow ups or resolutions. I'm glad you've been thoughtful and followed up. That really means a lot to me, and I'm sure your posts will be more helpful to the Remote Central community than those who do not post follow ups. :)

Let me know what bugs there are and I'll get take care of them for you.

Thank you,
Damon DG
