Anyone have instructions on how to use this?
I have updated the PIR-1 driver. No luck finding instructions.
Looking to save CCF codes.

It is used for URC Total Control and not used to save CCF codes. It is used to learn IR remotes in Total Control and also used to test IR codes in Total Control without having to download to the system.

There is the problem. I am using it with Complete Control Program. I will try that next.

There is not a lot of documentation on it.

PIR-1 will work with CCP. Here's some info I had about updating it: Windows 7

Ok. Good news. It works. It did not at first so I think you probably encountered the same issue. What I found out is that the PIR-1 firmware will update when connected to CCP, and then will update firmware when connected to Accelerator. I plugged in the PIR-1 first, then opened CCP and tried to learn. It did not work. I unplugged the PIR-1 and plugged back in and still did not work. I then closed CCP and unplugged the PIR-1. I started CCP and THEN plugged in the PIR-1. It didn't do anything at this time. When I went to learn a code, it updated the firmeware and then was able to learn. I tested the learned code via the PIR-1 and it worked.

I'd suggest doing what I did and start CCP first, then connect the PIR-1 and then try to learn a code to see if your firmware updates.

Windows 10

I just got the PIR-1 to work with Windows 10 Professional!!! It took me hours to do so but at least I got it to work.

Here are the steps in case someone else needs to do this:

1. Use Windows 7 native or in a Virtual Computer to upgrade the PIR-1 firmware. CCP updated the firmware on my PIR-1 to v 1.54 and then another update to v 1.56. (You might get lucky and have this work on Windows 10 which will save time).

2. Got to the FTDI website and download the updated drivers 2.12.28.0 from 08/16/2017.

3. Plug the PIR-1 into a USB port.

4. Go to device manager and you will find it adds a USB Serial Port Driver and a USB Serial Converter. Double click on each of these (one at a time), go to the Driver Tab and click update driver. Go to the directory where you downloaded the FTDI driver and update the drivers.

While the PIR-1 now works in CCP via Win 10, it does have a quirk. When you go to macro and select IR learning, you will get an error message "An unsupported operation was attempted". Close that message and the PIR-1 will appear in a ready to learn state.

I'm curious as to whether goldenzrule's PIR-10 will work out of the box with Win 10 or if he'll have to do the driver updates like I did. In any event, THANK YOU goldenzrule for giving me some more information to help me troubleshoot and figure it out.

I wish URC would publish something or directly provide the drivers as part of the CCP update or alternatively better integrate the PIR-1 into their software.

But why?
CCP remotes all have IR built in. They can learn IR codes and test IR codes without having to download to the remote. Just like the PIR-1 does!
So why would anyone use a PIR-1 with CCP - when technically you have a PIR-1 already built into every remote?

I use the PIR reader with CCP as I have the iPad iOS setup in CCP. The PIR reader just makes it much easier to learn remotes. Yes, I could learn on an MX remote and import the learned code. It's much easier with the PIR reader. I was able to get a login for CCP as I purchased several remotes from Surf Remote Control. URC provided me with my own login for CCP.
