I was fighting with wifi connectivity and turned off the wifi, then the remote rebooted and came up with an error:
db error!!! please update firmware
When I connect it to the programming PC I get the connection tone (and when I disconnect) but WMDC doesn't show it as connected. CCP fails when I try to download to the remote.

I can access the system setup screen (wifi, calibrate, etc) so it is still functioning (somewhat).

I've tried removing the battery, pressing the reset button but no sugar.

Ideas?

With the 5000 connected via USB make sure Microsoft Sync is active in Device Manager.

Thanks, but the problem was with the pilot. I never realized the remote settings screen was actually 2 screens. I was reading the manual again for the MX-5000 and saw the 2nd screen. Did a factory reset and I could then download.
