I have been asked to program an old Genesis MX 900. I understand that the early ones used the MX900 editor and the newer ones use the CCP editor. I have both. How do I tell which to use without simply trying them. The urc website says using the MX 900 editor on a new model will brink it. Can I use the CCP editor on both the old and new models? Any know what serial numbers work with CCP and which with MX 900.
Hopefully John can chime in on this but from what I remember, you can use .CCP on any of them. But once you use .CCP to program/upgrade it, you can't go back to using the standalone editor. At least that's what I remember.
I have programed old MX-900 with .CCP, so I know that part is accurate.
Thanks. That is consistent with what I have been reading. And, I found a reset process if you try to download a file with the old editor to a new remote..
The remote was an older model, which can be programmed either with the MX 900 editor or ccp. If it has been programmed with the original editor, when you connect to check firmware it will respond. If it has been previously programmed with ccp, it will error. And, CCP can be used for all the 900s, including the old ones. I am sticking with the MX900 editor because of the issues with urc locking up ccp except for registered dealers. Mine works, but do not trust URC enough to commit to ccp except where it is necessary.
