I have the new 4K 2021 AppleTV.

I understand that you program the codes (917) into your URC then learn the codes into your AppleTV remote. Had to search these forums to figure that out

How do I program these:

Home (and how does it differ from Menu)
Power On
Power Off
Back (button on remote that looks like this <)

Home button is an enigma. NO ONE KNOWS. If you ever find out, you better tell us, because all the other posts on this and every AV forum I have spent hours researching are of NO HELP!!! Seriously, if anyone knows, tell me. Here's what I use:

Power On: use CEC
Power Off: use CEC
Back: Short "Menu" command. If you want, here is the IR code for CCP:

MENU MAIN
0000 006C 0022 0002 015B 00AD 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0622 015B 0057 0016 0E6C

Thank you

The problem is that with Gen 4 and Gen 5 models, and what is not clear in the posts is that you learn the remote to the device. It was hard for me to grasp this concept as it's opposite of nearly everything else you program.

So when you go to CCP and select from the IR database, you then have to go to your gen 4 or 5 ATV and have the ATV learn those codes. You could actually program any IR code (eg. The play button for a Denon DVD player) into the ATV for any specific button.

The issue is, ATV asks to learn many buttons. Forward, back, home, etc. But I can't find where it asks to learn on, off, back.

I suggest getting the Channel Master Apple tv remote, it has a Home key and its IR only, so it can be taught to your current Universal remote. Channel Master is selling refurbished models on Ebay for cheap:

Unless they have changes something the On/Off has nothing to do with the AppleTV, it would be for power connected devices via CEC so no need to have that button in the URC remote. The back button is the menu command from the older remotes.

the channel master remote may be worth the money to use to learn from if the home button actually functions as the home button on the Apple remote. And is so, how is it this code hasn't made it into the wild yet with so many looking for it for so long?

I imported those JP1 codes from their forum into Remote Master and then used a Nevo C2 and CCP was able to learn the command fine.

Using IR Scrutinizer I tried to convert it to Pronto Hex and here's what I got:

0000 006C 0022 0002 015B 00AD 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 06FB 015B 0057 0016 0E6C

If it works, 1 repeat should give you Home, 3 repeats should give you the Control Panel and a double tap should give you the app switcher.

I could also send a CCP file with just the device on it if the above doesn't work for you.

Thanks! Mine just arrived today.

One thing that I haven't found is instructions for setting up the remote (or the Apple TV) for use when the Apple TV is not fresh out of the box.

Our Apple TV is set up to be controlled by the original remote, an iPhone, and an iPad. How does one deprogram, reprogram, unprogram, or whatever is needed, to be able to control the Apple TV 4th Gen from the Channel Master CM-7000RXC?

As always, thanks!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Since it came used and it can be programmed to control CM dvr's, to reset it:

1. press and hold Menu & Stop simultaneously for 3 seconds and release it should start controlling the apple tv. That's what I had to do.

Thanks!
STOP and MENU for three seconds worked. Oddly, it didn't work when the Apple TV was off. It worked when the Apple TV was on, though... so okay.

However, POWER doesn't work and various buttons only to work when the "cursor" is set to a particular position. This doesn't seem to be a problem if there's a list somewhere of what will work when. Where did you get that instruction? I'd like to have the whole list, if possible!

FYI: the remote appeared to be brand new as it was in a Channel Master mailer and was in a heat-sealed dual plastic bag (one section having batteries, the other section containing the remote).

Does the Apple TV have to be reset in some way?

Thanks.

The remote has to programmed for your brand of tv or sound bar.

To program it for your tv:

1. with tv on, press and hold Menu & OK for 3 seconds, until the red led stays on, release
2. point it at the tv and press ch down key, if the volume doesn't changes, press ch down again, keep pressing the ch down until your tv volume changes
3. press ok to lock in code

For sound bars, switch ch down in the directions for cursor down

As of now:
I missed this detail on the Channel Master refurbs:
"Channel Master is selling refurbished models on Ebay for cheap."

So the one I bought isn't new. Cool.

Are the instructions on the Channel Master site, that end with "InstructionSheet_17July20.pdf," the most complete and up to date instructions? Or?

Thank you.

Any chance of getting a ccp file, Apple TV doesn't recognize the signal when I paste that in.
