I recently bought a Home Theater Master (now URC) MX-1000 remote.
This remote is 20 years old, and needs to be programmed via a serial cable. I have an old PC running on Windows XP with two serial ports.
I installed the MX Designer software, and configured the serial ports as indicated in the manual (COM 1, 115,200 bit/s, Xon/Xoff, etc.), but I am unable to download a program to the remote. I am getting a message that says ‘’DOWN LOAD FAIL!’.

Does anyone on the forum have any idea?
Thanks in advance.

it reverses the polarity of the serial connection. (swaps the Tx pin with the Rx pin) it's the first thing I try when having communication issues with serial adapters.

Understood, thanks. I ordered one from Amazon, together with a USB adapter and will try both options. I will let you know if that worked. Thanks again!!

The null modem adapter solved my problem, thank you so much! I was able to replicate the McIntosh UR12 configuration on the MX-1000.
