Just bought one as I am a refugee from a Harmony 890 with broken screen. Was able to program devices and macros without too much difficulty. Some questions though:

Using a Denon 2807 which responds well but not perfectly to the suggested code of 0811. So I "learned" the balance. Is there a better match?

Also for Zone 2 I created a second device and macro keyed to the discrete learned zone 2 on and off codes. Is that the best solution?

What's the advantage of using the "on" button? I have macro for "off" but don't see why it would be used.

Finally, the remote doesn't appear to have "state awareness", that is, once a macro executes and turns the appropriate equipment on, if I chose to move to a different window or button, it loses all functionality of the previous macro. The Harmony was able to overcome this by pressing the the activities button I think.

All in all, very satisfied and can clearly see that the build quality far surpasses the Harmony.

I use the "On" button on the main menu to turn on the "TV" source for wives, mothers-in-law, and technophobic houseguests. Inside sources I usually have it run the source macro again or sometimes toggle power for the source.

As for state awareness, there are no variables available on the 450. Then again the Harmony remotes just fake it also.

Yes a separate device for Zone 2 is fine depending on use. If zone 2 is going to be the same as the main zone you could easily just make a macro within that device to turn on Zone and go to the correct input.

You can do it whatever way makes the most sense to you. It is the advantage if using something like this over a Harmony.

On button on the Main page I often make the same as hitting the TV button. It keeps it full proof. But, again you can make it anyway you want.

Curious problem though. Can’t get the off button to turn off the SAT or TV. Have to hit main a second time then hit off and they finally go off. Delays don’t seem to make a difference. Interesting that other macros do turn the SAT and TV off (the CD macro for example). Not using power toggle either, just power off for both. Suggestions?

Got it now. My error. Keep forgetting to press main before power off.

You can always copy and paste the on or off buttons to work within a device.

I copied the power off to all devices, but it didn't work. The SAT and TV stayed on unless I pressed the power off a second time.

I have created a device on page 3 called power and created 2 macros: on and off. Have tried to copy and past to the main on and off buttons unsuccessfully. Can someone help?

If you want to save the file with the archive software and send me the file, I can take a look. The proper way would be to setup the off command on the OFF button (and last step of the macro would be to go to the main page). Then copy and paste to all devices. There may be some random codes in there messing things up. The 450 is a good remote, but a pita when it comes to troubleshooting programming issues.

Goldenzrule really helped me out. Seems like I and many others had trouble programming the on/oof power buttons. I researched the forum and tried to understand the process but couldn't get it. So now that it's solved here goes on another explanation:
1) Macros for the power on/off buttons must be done in a device. (read that several times but it bears repeating).
2) When you choose the device for the new power button (on/off) macro and land in that device, when asked for a button to program, choose the power button (either on or off) and create the macro.
3) If it's the off button, for example, go to each device (by pressing the main button) and choose the off key with each device. Make the last selection back to your preferred landing page.
4) Test the macro and save.
5) Copy and paste using the "power off only" selection. And paste to all devices.
6) The power off button will now turn of all devices no matter which device you are operating in without the need to press main first.
7) I did the same as above for power on as I prefer that set up.

This all may seem like grade school stuff for most of you but it took me 2 weeks and the kindness of goldenzrule to set me straight.
