I noticed that when I tried to download a file meant for an MX-980 that it has an RCF suffix not a CCP. I cannot open the file. Why would it be an RCF? Can I convert? How? Thank you.

It was probably created with the mx980 stand alone editor.

I was gonna ask if that was the case. I never used the stand alone software for the 980. It was a little unclear whether he tried to upload a file and then down into CCP or if he just had one on the computer, but either way it could have been created with the stand alone I suppose.

If it was, I would assume you can import the file much the same you can with the MX900? If yes, you go about adding a remote to a new file as you normally would, and in the window that pops up, you can select to import an existing file.

You can import the file. Go to configure home and when you add the remote it gives you the option to load an existing file.
