I'm about to do simple update to programming of MSC400. It hasn't been touched in 3 years.

So while I'm at it ... I looked at my listing of things that were an issue but not worth effort to fix. On the top of the list is the repeat issue for functions like volume both IR and RS232. Guess I'd always hoped a firmware update would fix but searching here does not reveal it has happened.

To be certain:

Does the bug still exist in latest MSC400 firmware?

Does state-of-the-art workaround still employ press and hold macro? My IR devices are fine with a double bump but I've got RS232 control of Russound whole house and double bump is barley tolerable (for me. Wife hates it). Never fixed it since, as I understand, would need to create two RS232 macros -- one for single press (although from re reading not sure it fixes) and one for repeat. I'm a pure novice with RS232 and creation of macros on MSC. If this is still best case, I think I'll hire a professional since it will take me far more time to learn than the one time I'm gonna use.

I've never had any issues with IR and volume but RS232 volume control on the MSC400 is a joke. I have to believe that URC just couldn't figure out how to make it work properly so they abandoned it and left everybody hanging.
