My MX-900 shows Versions as follows:
Edit: 1.0
S/W: 1.57
IR: 1.12

I have two questions. Are newer versions available? If so, how can I update?

I'm asking because my key presses don't always work and I've read here that it could be a firmware issue.

BTW, I bought it on eBay 4 years ago. I've always programmed it myself using the PC-based software.

TIA,

Ed

It's not a firmware issue but the widespread button failure issue. Search the forums and you will find plenty of info on it.

Thanks. I did some searching and found the firmware mentioned as a cause, so latched onto that idea. Thanks to your suggestion, I did more searching and found that it's more likely a bad button contact issue. I might try to open it up and clean them up.

Thats your best bet. Before you open it though, you might want to contact URC. They have repaired or replaced some out of warranty MX900s because of this issue. No guarantee they will, but worth the call.
