How do you program/reprogram scenes?

I have tried setting dimmers and holding down
a scene button on trc-1280, but that doesn't work.

I can dim/bright an individual dimmer,
but nothing on scene page.

Just to make sure there is no confusion on how to do this I just copied and pasted the email below that I sent to my customer on how to adjust his scenes.

1) Select the room you want to adjust the lighting for & select the lights tab.

2) Set the dimmer or dimmers (if you have multiple lighting zones in that room) for the levels you want them saved at for each individual scene.

3) Then hold down the scene you want to save for 8 secs (sometimes you have to hold it for awhile), the state of the dimmer/s will change. And the scene will be saved.

You also need to make sure that you have correctly synced each dimmer with it's correct room address. To do this...

1) Select the room you want to sync & select the lighting icon.

2) Hold in the middle of the dimmer until it begins scrolling.

3) Then hold down the on command until the state of the dimmer changes. The lighting address will now be save in that room.

If you have any issues with any of the lighting addresses not working correctly re-assign them in the TC software.

The other issue I ran into on one of my jobs was that the signal going to the RTFX1 was not strong enough. I was running around the house trying to save the scenes and it worked in some locations, but not in others. We ended up installing a second one and it resolved the problem.

And if all else fails call tech support.

Thanks!
I will keep trying. Pairing worked because I
can select a lamp and dim/bright and on/off

the remote, a trc-1280, must send the scene
data to the mrx10 , right? So, scenes are available
on all remotes, iPads, iPhones

since dimmer is a 1way device, there isn't a way for dimmer to
report it's current setting, is there?

Am I really saving the state the remote
thinks the dimmer is at? If this is true, dim with remote
and then save scene or does it matter.

The remote sends a signal over the Wifi network to the MRX10. The MRX10 then sends the signal to the RFX1, which then sends the signal to the rf dimmers.

Yes the scenes are available on all devices. I like the iPad because the screen is so much bigger than the 1280.

The best way to select a scene on the 1280 is not by touching the screen it's by using the navigation arrows in the middle of the remote and then hitting the select button. For example if you want to go to scene 4 (instead of trying to use the tiny little arrows on the right) use the navigation arrows and move down to the fourth scene.

No it's a one way device no feedback. The only way to have two way lighting with TC is Radio RA2.

No the remote is just sending the commands. URC basically creates little 1 way lighting modules based on the information you enter in the TC programming software. And it then lets you save scenes for each area or room that have one than one dimmer or switch in. It great because it saves a lot of time on programming, but it has two major drawbacks; it's 1 way control and it's lack of custimization. It would be nice to be able to re-label the scenes and have a module for whole house control or scenes. I had to create another device called "lighting house" I created scenes like "good night, good morning, movie, etc.. within that device.

Just so you know each URC dimmer or switch can save up to three lighting addresses. The first lighting addressed is assigned to each dimmer and the second address is for each room. So instead of sending a command like "lamp scene 1, high hat scene 1, sonces scene 1. It sends one lighting command to the second address for "scene 1" which makes it much more reliable.

You should also check out the some of the custom lighting control features in TC like event timers, vacation mode, alarm clock, etc.. You can programming lights to go on or off every night or morning, or set custom vacation modes. The customer can select the days and times the lights go on and off. All you have to do is program what you want each macro to do.

I can't get this to work. I did the pairing again. I can select an individual lamp and turn it on/off, and dim.

I goto scene page under my room, and nothing works.
All off, global dim/bright, do nothing. No indication on dimmers that they see anything.

Your pair the dimmers twice right?

Once for the individual light code, and once for the room code?

Maybe not. Dimmers have been assigned room and individual addresses.
Everything is saved and downloaded.
On remote I select room and then lights
I select a light and go thru pairing
I assume this would pair to room and a known light label in system

What did I miss?

Assume not! You did not pair for both the room code AND the individual light code.

ok, how to do this.
Just go thru same process again?? Same remote page, same buttons, etcc... and somehow remote uses room code the second time?

Sorry, I am sure this will make perfect sense after the fact.

Well, I just figured this out. On scene page, scroll down to all on scene and then pair each dimmer by holding all on button and normal pairing at dimmer

Thanks for help

Sorry I should have been a little clearer in my explanation needs to be saved for the room and each individual zone. Glad you got it figured out.

I heard you , I just didn't know how to pair on room. Documentation with ac elector is not correct , but gave me a clue.

It should simply read. Go to scene menu, select all-on button and hold while paring dimmer.

Now, I can move on to the really cool stuff you mentioned Matt
