Hello,

I recently purchased an older, used mx-3000 on ebay. Although I haven't received it yet, I know the remote will come with the original cd. Will this cd enable software/discrete codes/firmware updates?

Thanks for any assistance on this issue.

Not sure what kind of agreement you had with the seller, but chances are the disc is not software - it's probably documentation.

The MX3000 was always intended for the retail market. It comes with the editor on a CD in the box. That's why it's not supported under CCP.

Lowhz,

Thanks for the comment. The CD is black and orange. Does this mean it can be updated?

Thanks.

Lowhz,

Thanks for your question. What I am trying to find out is this:

1)Will the software that comes on the cd update to the newest discrete codes from the urc database?

2)Will the software update the firmware of the remote?

3)Will the software update itself?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

1) No. It will have the discrete codes that were in the library when that CD was pressed.

2) Possibly. It depends on the firmware already in the remote and what is on that CD.

3) Possibly. There is a button for live update. There might be an update, there might not be.

Remote firmware fixes background problems that keep the remote from being programmed correctly. Don't think that you're going to magically get a working remote. That thing is a blank slate (literally) and you have to invent the user interface and macros using the commands that are either built into the library or what you can find from other documentation or teach in from another remote.

I don't like that model at all. Didn't like it 10 years ago either.

The MX-3000 is NOT intended for the retail market. They stopped sending the software when they installed the software policy. They continue to ship a disc with documentation on it. Where did you get that information from that it was for sale on the retail market? It is a professional product and will always be.

Bro, it is not edited under the CCP suite BECAUSE its a retail remote. For that reason URC did not make it a purely "professional" product. The URC national trainer himself gave me the reason.

Let me give you a list of other URC remotes that were sold in my big box retail store that fell under that same designation:

MX500
MX600
MX700RF
MX800RF
MX1000
MX3000
MRF100
MRF200

Endusers bought all of those remotes and programmed them themselves.

What they put in the box now I have no idea, but don't deify that platform into something it's not.
