You may have noticed the recent update to the CCP adding the MX-890. It's because the new MX-890 is now shipping in limited quantities. Has the same functionality as the MX-1200, but without the touchscreen. It's a nice piece that will kill the MX-880 at the same price ($500). Apparently, there will also be a TRC-890 in the future for the Total Control stuff.

Oh yeah, it has to have the "80" designation to be Total Control (except for those pesky 880s and 980s). ;-)

What TC in the model # isn't enough to designate it? : )

Are there any other differences besides the touch screen? (MX-1200 vs MX-890)

I'm using MX-980 and MX-880 remotes... Truth-be-told, I kind-of like the MX-880 remotes better than the MX-890 but I'd like some more graphical capability like the MX-980.

EDIT: Also, are there any "trade-up" programs for trading in a remote for one of these newer ones? (or does anybody want to trade a very slightly MX-980 for an MX-890? :))

Wait until you see the 890 screen. It blows the 880 out of the water. It also has the four color buttons installers ask for. I also think most users will like the ergonomics of the 890. I'm excited about this one...

The 890 and 880 both have the same size LCD screen, right?

I'd LOVE to "upgrade" my MX-980 to the 890, so if anybody is interested in almost brand new 980 please let me know!

I had just bought 2 780's and the next day learned about the 890, so I have 2 new 780's in the box to either "upgrade" or sell.

I heard the screen is higher resolution than the 880, but have not seen specs to confirm it. I did order one and it will be here Monday so I can get some real world experience with it. I will try it in my home for a week or two before selling it.

The screen resolution is 240x320, same as the MX-980. Have lots of clients looking to upgrade from the 900 & 780. If anyone wants me to email them a cut sheet send me a PM.

As of friday my distributor still did not have any pricing for the 890
in their system.

Is cost pretty well the same as an 880?

Thanks
