Hey Tom,

By the way, how is Mountain Top Entertainment doing? I think it's important to remember, you are the face of your business--- And comments like the above do not reflect well. They definitely don't show the appearance of a "Professional" that is needed to make it in a competitive environment.

So, maybe you should wear a "costume" that doesn't reflect who you really are.

You guys make a great team.

Instead of asking me why my price is high ask the other guys why they are low.

Hi Palnews26,

Thanks for recognizing us as being "Team Players". That's what forums are all about; getting together and helping each other. I appreciate the constructive comment.

Joseph, this forum is not for DIY only. If you didnt notice, URC is a professional product so someone like you who is in the beginning phases of becoming an installer should not enter kicking and screaming. It is not wise of you to treat Tom's business the way you did. Tom has helped many, many more people than Mistachy will probably help in his life. Mistachy has made a living on this board (and you can look at all his posts) of helping people soley for the purpose of undermining the installer. Every single time he has stepped in and tried to help someone it has been for the purpose of creating contraversy and trouble. I spoke to Daniel about this and he agreed, but apparantly he just can't seem to get away from his MO.

In any regard, I tried to help you by suggesting three different reasons why you would have problems. I also suggested you not post your number because of the various scrapers that pull that stuff off the web and sell it. I am a professional in this industry and I iimplore you if you are serious about part of this forum in the same trade you show some respect and understand who you are speaking to.

As a sidenote, Mr. Mistachy was asking just a few short months ago how to do very elementary things with his MX-980. if he wants to call people on his free time that is great, but we all know what his intentions are.

LOL funny... entertainingly funny. wow, keep those outrageous conspiracy theories commin'... so funny... wow

And @ the comment regarding my intentions... just ask Joseph and the many others who PM me on a constant basis asking for help that they are afraid to ask for in the forum. There are people out there getting satisfied help from helpful people regardless of the brutalizing hatred thrown their way for wanting to program a remote themselves.

People helping people, and dusting the hatters off. All day, everyday... want help, get help. Always.

Joseph came here looking for help, he received it... got his remote programmed... its sad to see that some people just hate that so much, but yea... he's a happy camper with a new URC. Don't be mad, be proud...

Hi vbova27,

First, thank you for your advice with regard to forums and public information.

I understand your concerns for Tom's business. But, I hope you understand I did not force him to send "unprofessional messages". If he puts messages on a public forum, he should have the intelligence to understand that many people will have access to read his comments. And, if he is willing to jeopardize his reputation, that is on him.

I am an accountant. I also have high standards that I need to live by in and out of work. Realizing this, I post with an professional/ethical attitude. If Tom is a "keyboard warrior", then he should be held accountable for his actions.

With regard to this forum being for professional installers, I was not made aware of that. I did see a section labeled "Custom Installer's Lounge", which I felt would not be appropriate for me to post. So, I posted where I felt was appropriate. The thread for Professional Controllers, which I did not see any requirements to be an installer to enter.

With that aside, I thank you again for your advice. I appreciate help from others. As for mistachy, he is a very nice person, has a professional demeanor, and patient as well.

If you want your industry and people within your industry to be respected, you should hold your peers to a level of professionalism (and not just us DIY'rs). As an accountant, I am held to professional standards. If you read back on previous posts, I have been "attacked" with verbal insults including a ridiculous photo. Just because certain people feel it is ok to insult others, I do not feel that is the right thing to do and refuse to step down to their level.

So if you feel I have been "kicking and screaming", I kindly ask you to read my posts, and the negative responses from your peers. Once your peers realize their is a reaction to every action, maybe they will post on a professional level (versus being negative and insulting).

Anyhow, thanks again for your advice. I hope that we can turn this forum into a place people are happy to read and help, versus happy to criticize others.

Hi Duct Tape,

I created a profile based on my real name. Furthermore, the username you are referring to is not "MissTouchy". Pay others respect--- just like you want to be respected.

If you feel a need to discuss this situation, my number is posted in previous comments. Feel free to contact me.

Best Regards,

Joseph,

I am not trying to attack you but I do have a few questions about your posts and your background. You first stated that you were applying for a business licence to become a professional.

....."anyhow, I am actually in the works of applying for my occupational license and becoming an installer. i have been in contact with URC with regard to becoming an installer. after getting my occupational license, then i will receive access to education/seminars."

Then you state that you are an accountant. My question is why anyone who is a competent accountant would want to become a custom installer?

you the man Joseph! you the man. Stay positive... one of these days, we will all be held accountable for all our actions. The things we think in our head, say out loud, and do... will all be judged one day. Until then, I'm going to act like I'm fully aware of that, and just continue being helpful as I can. You sir, are a man wise beyond your years. Thank you for putting things into a perspective so clear for us to see.

Hi Dave T.,

By no means did I take that as an attack. My educational background includes a B/S in accounting and a Maters in taxation. I graduated from grad school in December of 2009, and have the last of my four CPA exams end of month. After graduation, I worked in public (International Tax) for one season, and now I work in the private sector as a financial/tax accountant.

With regard to me becoming an installer, it would be a part time business. At heart, I am a "techy" lol. Furthermore, I have the drive for success. There are many ways to make a dollar, but I don't want to make just a dollar.

By the way, I post from my phone so if something in my posts don't make sense--- feel free to ask.

Well, it's 7:08am here, and I am about to get on the train. Hope you all a good day.

This is the last thing on the subject. Mistachy, take a look around the forum and try to read posts other than your own. People are helping people all the time. Just because they are not posting plagerized versions of URC's manuals does not mean people are not offered help. Believe me, nobody is worried about any single persons posts. But the constant undermining, the constant reminder to everyone that installers are not needed, the plagerism and posting of URC's tech manuals with different words is just dangerous behaviour. I spoke with people about it and they agreed. Apparently something was done about it. It doesnt matter. URC's new line will be out soon and the trend is moving away from the mayhem that is affecting the current lines. Something will eventually be done about this type of thing. I am thankful I have other lines like Crestron and RTI where people like him can't make noise about. As a direct URC dealer I have a right to take offense to this type of thing. It's all getting very old.

Joseph,
You may be more of a victim here than a villain.
Mismatch's game is usually directed at first time posters who have no knowledge of his past history here. He has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. He thinks himself a champion of DYI'ers. His comment about why hire a pro when he can help proves the point. You don't have to hire a pro here to get good advice, they do it for free. If it doesn't work out then hire someone. I can do my own taxes, but will a professional do a better job. Of course. Imagin an accounting forum where people come for good advice and someone makes comment's like that over and over again.
By the way, like yourself I am not a pro.
Mismatch's answer is always to PM him and he can help. What's the point of that. Did he help with your problem? What was the solution? Is there a better one? Is he helping everyone, or just trying to make himself look good to a few. Who learns anything from that? What good would a Q&A forum be, with all the answers private. He doesn't want to post his solutions in the forum, for fear of being wrong. Most of the time I have no idea what I'm talking about, but somehow it all work's out.  I'm sure he has helped some people, especially those looking for software.
He could be part of the process here, but he chooses his way instead.
A lot of people have a rough start here, but soon realize it was unnecessary.
Don't be so fast to jump to conclusions. Look around a little first.
Just thought you might like to know.
I'll keep the picture and bunker buster for future use:)
