Hi,

I am new to the forum, and I am hoping someone can help me. I have all my living room equipment in a cabinet. My controller is a MX-980, and I installed a MRF-260 in the cabinet. I am able to get by BluRay Player to work. But, I have my Bose Lifestyle 48 in the cabinet. I am not able to get the Bose Lifestyle 48 to work. I have put hours in trying to make it work. Can someone please help? Also, my telephone number is 954-465-5395. If anyone who knows how to make this work feels comfortable calling, I would really appreciate the help. If you do not feel comfortable calling, can you please explain on the forum?

Thanks,
Joe

Joe, posting your telephone number is not cool. In any event, there could be a multitude of problems in why your lifestryle is not working. The unit might be using RF only (vs. IR), your emitter could be poorly placed, or your codes are bad, or all of the above. You should give a pro a call instead of posting your phone number on a public site.

first off, make sure to change your lifestyle to receiver IR (its in the menu, but if I recall the proper label doesnt make sense, it toggles between sending out its own codes so that you can learn them, and enabling the IR receiver).

Next you need to flip the Bose upside down, and remove the lower front cover so that you can access the IR receiver, place an emitter on/near depending on sensitivity, and then put the unit back together and flip right side up...lastly you get to test to see if your codes actually work or if you need new ones etc.

vbova27, thank you for your kind advice with regard to privacy issues. I guess I got to the point of pure frustration, lol.

anyhow, I am actually in the works of applying for my occupational license and becoming an installer. i have been in contact with URC with regard to becoming an installer. after getting my occupational license, then i will receive access to education/seminars.

anyhow, in the meantime, i really want to get my system set up. my bose is set up correctly because it works on the IR mode when the controller is in direct line of the Bose unit.

Eastside, thanks for the advice. I sent you a private message.

Also, if anyone is willing to call me, I would be willing to pay $50 through PayPal if you would walk me through the process of getting my Bose to work. Again, my number is 954-465-5395.

Thanks in advance,
Joe

He's trying to help people that don't want professionel help so who cares. As long as we don't have to look at stupid tutorials involving "controversial variables" (that still cracks me up!) or have him creating fake logins so he can have conversations with himself, it's all good.

Mistachy,

Thanks for your help. Forums are for DIY'rs, and not the professional installers. If this was the place for Professional Installers, how come I was not required to enter my Occupational Lucense when signing up for the forum???? Don't you Professional Installers have your "member only" coferences and access to Manufacturer's resources the DIY'rs don't???? Well, quit being jerks and stick to your events and not "for help" forums!!!!

Furthermore, your issue shouldn't be with anyone helping other on here. Your issues should be amongst your own peers who sell the equipment advising people professional installation is highly recommended, but NOT required.

Thanks to all, especially Mistachy, who have a positive attitude and are helpful.

Joseph

The dude died. Just like your business probably will if you don't learn to adapt to a costumer service environment in a difficult economy dealing with products people don't "need" to have. My $0.02
