Opened CCP, update pops up Yes or No? Ahhhhhhhh????????? Yes.

After update CCP will not open.

"This application has failed to start because Toolkit Pro1342vc80dll was not found. Re installing the application may fix the problem"

Ok, I'm getting use to this. Re install version prior to update and all is well, works fine.
Just for kicks, I update again. Guess what? Same message, will not open.

Anyone?
Did I miss the memo?

I just took today's update and no problems...

Like DT said, maybe you have other PC issues.

I was thinking that.
Had a wicked virus, did a reload, and added a bigger memory at the beginning of Jan, but CCP worked fine after that. I think it was updated since, but not sure.
Funny thing is, I can find that file no problem it's right there.
I see where you are going. Uninstall and Re Download, to authorize computer again.
Can I reinstall without the uninstall part. I've saved my files but you never know.

On a side note: Have you ever met a Rich or Richie Eilers. Works at a marina in Brick.

What kind of question is that?

My CCP won't update right now and I'll stop selling URC remotes before I wipe my PC and re-install the OS just to update their programming software.

Sometimes my CCP update progress makes it nearly half way, other times it chokes on the second or third file.

Wipe & reinstall OS? Please tell me you were kidding.

It is good practice to backup files and reload your OS periodically. It keeps the registry clean and can fix weird program issues like he is having.

Most of the times when I've had an update hang during download it is due to a server issue on urc's end.

But the original poster seems to have a pc issue and not a download issue.

Does that clear things up for you billy?

Bill,
I took it as a question rather than a possible fix.
The answer was yes, I had done that recently which could explain why I was having the problem.
I re-installed CCP without deleting it and I'm now up to date. I'll wait for the next update and see if it re occurs. If so, I'll remove it and start fresh.
CCP just does not like to update somedays or updates and has some type of bug or problem. I usually wait a week or so and it fixes itself.
Sorry, I forgot to post a follow up on this.

It's Tom, not Billy, and that's clear as mud. I might not have a lot of posts here but "it's good practice to backup files and reload your OS periodically" is ridiculous.

The OP may have a PC issue but blowing away your PC and starting from scratch is a last resort, IMO.

I'm not trying to start some kind of internet flame fest here, just disagreeing with that one post.

PS - I was finally able to get CCP to update this afternoon, but it took several restarts and dozens of attempts.

and just a pro forum tip:  if you don't want to start an "internet flame fest," don't act like a d-bag when responding to a post that you don't understand.

FWIW i'm on duct tapes side on this. There is nothing better than a fresh install. I try to reformat at least once a year. there is so much crap that gets left behind when programs update, get uninstalled, etc. I've found thru experience when you have a weird quirk with something windows related, doing a fresh install will actually be more productive then trying to find a fix on the internet.

I manage about 40 PCs, 6 Databases, 5 LANs and a WAN for a living. This home theater stuff is a side job for me.

If you guys want to wipe & re-install your OS and applications every so often, go for it. I have PCs on my network that haven't ever been wiped & re-installed in nearly five years - and they're still humming along nicely.

I understood perfectly.

Palnews - I hope you get your problem resolved without having to resort to a fresh OS install.

wow billy, that is really impressive.  unfortunately not everyone is a guru like you when it comes to computers, so it is simpler for us to just backup files and reload the OS.   someday i might be as cool as you, but i doubt it.
