I have a female RS-232 cable connected to my MSC-400.
I'd like to connect my PC to the other end (ie. a male-male cable).
How should I wire the cable? Should it be a null-modem cable?

your PC should have a female jack on it if you are using a built in com port. In which case a female URC cable will plug right in. If you need to extend it, the cable should be straight thru. (pin 2 to 2, pin 3 to 3, pin 5 to 5)
if you are using a USB to serial adapter on the PC that accepts a male connection instead of female, then you will probably have to make a crossover pin 2 to 3, pin 3 to 2, pin 5 to 5.
