To me it seems like they're trying to be just another Harmony, doesn't matter who's selling our product as long as we're moving units. It won't shock me WHEN I see them at Walmart.

Guess what???!!!

But that's a whole different forum...

I don't understand why an end-user (after numerous cautions about buying a remote without software), would buy a URC remote from ANY dealer without the software offering.

In 2011, if software exists, there is no such thing as not being able to get it. Proven once again since I got it, and I'm not a professional installer.

Obviously, but I think his point was that the software isn't part of the remote purchase.

Anyone can get it, if the seller provides it.

I bought mine from an authorized seller. I got the software. If you're looking for a remote of this calibre don't you KNOW you need the software to program it and don't you ASK if the software is available?

I feel a bit sorry for the OP, but..... not that much, because I researched the purchase. Now maybe it's just me because I research the hell out of stuff to the point of probably being annoying, but at least I know what I'm getting into.

Sometimes I think most consumers have a sense of entitlement that's just not appropriate. If you don't know what you're spending money on, then more often than not I think whatever you get is your own doing. The MX-980 isn't a cheap remote. I don't spend those dollars without a fairly thorough understanding of what I'm getting myself into.

i'm gonna start hanging out at best buy with my URC T-shirt and hat  :)

I just laughed out loud to myself when I read this post. A couple of weeks ago I made the gigantic mistake of wearing a dark turqoise blue sweatshirt to best buy when picking up a DVD for my daughter. About half a dozen people came up to me and asked me for help thinking that familiar color was that worn by the employees. At first I had fun with it, but after the 3rd or 4th person I wanted to run out of there. One thing I was surprised about and ironically so, was how much trust the average customer seems to put on the employee and how willing they are to purchase a big ticket item right then and there.

"Free Blu-Ray players with any purchase" (as you point to a far corner of the store and soon depart).
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I bet you could spend the whole day there answering questions and handing out your card and no one would be the wiser. Score a shirt and who knows how long you can last.
HI, I'm Vincent from corporate, I'll be here for a week. LOL
Instead of asking me why my price is high ask the other guys why they are low.
