Hi, I am new here and I believe it is time to upgrade my remote control. But, to what?
The last time the tech was put he said the current MX-350 was getting full. Well, I hope he is out later today as I have an issue with my Onkyo reciever and I also had a new DirecTV DVR installed this past week so he needs to update the MX-350 programming.
But, knowing what he said on his previous visit I think I shoudl consider upgrading the remote but...to what? And, what can I expect to pay? I wen to the URC web site but did not see a comparison feature to compare the MX-350 to a MX-800 or a TX-1000 or a ??? Also, what about a KP-4000? My entire house is wired with Cat-5E strurtured wiring. But, we do not have any in-wall panels. One complaint/issue we have is when we are using the remote to listen to the whole house audio, be it FM radio or a CD we have no clue what is playing or what station we are on unless we know the song or hear the call sign. Woudl the KP-4000 solve that problem? Would the KP-4000 replace the MX-350? I doubt it, because if we are downstairs int he theater room how would we control the equipment since the KP-4000 would probably be upstairs in the wall?
So, would a TX-1000 be the ticket? I love the Elan touch panels..they are big, easy to read, and appear, to my wife, to be less confusing because they do nto have a ton of buttons like the MX-350.
So, any thoughts as to what I should look into? Should I keep the MX-350 for the upstairs and get another one for the theater room? Or get a MX-980? Or, something else? If I am outside I would like to be able to see what I am listenign to also.
I hope to integrate my PC into this system also to use it as a DVR, access my iTunes library, etc. But, how to do that? Thanks in advance.
