Hi,

First, thank you for all the help i have received over the years from this site

I have searched this issue to no avail, hope someone here may have some advice. I have the question out to URC (been a week) but hoping to find the answer here.

When programing my VF551XVT w my MX980 I find that while I can store the discrete OFF, but when I store the discrete ON, the code does not "take". What is perplexing is that when "testing" the ON code from the database it works perfectly. When I "carry" it over to the soft MX980 and test it, it does not work.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

OB

Welcome to Remote Central.
Have you tried deleting the button contents before adding the new command? Have you tried the discrete code set 601? (discrete codes 2009)

Hi,

Thank you so much for the advice. Yes, unfortunately all of these have been attempted and have no change on the situation. I have deleted the entire device (not just pages) and reentered. I even tried "learning" the non discrete POWER from the remote (it will turn off, but not on). It's very odd, the command works when "tested" from the software when broadcast through tethered software, but once you save it to the remote and test - nothing. What is odd is that the discrete OFF works fine.

Best,

Bill

I just wanted to chime in that I have the same model TV set up with my MX-980 right now and have no problems with the discrete ON command from the database. It works properly stored to any buttons I've put it on, including soft buttons or other buttons and also as part of a macro which also handles other devices.

What version of the software are you using and what version firmware is currently on your MX-980?

Have you tried setting up a test-only configuration where you blank out the remote completely except for setting up a few buttons with that code?

TM, thank you for your post - so it is possible! It really doesn't make sense why it wouldn't work.... other than user error ;) I did also today hear back from my contact at URC (they were off through Tuesday) so I am confident I'll get this figured out.

As an aside, we have really been impressed w this Vizio model, not only is the picture quality amazing it is extremely energy efficient.

I am traveling but when home I will try a fresh "template" - I really do need to clean up the device. If still an issue I will post sw and fw releases.

Again, thank you,

Bill

Sometimes changing the order of commands (like putting the problem code as first command sent) can help.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Hi Tom, thank you, tried that, even loaded it into different buttons as well as a "new" fresh remote, with discrete ON being the only code.

Talked briefly with URC yesterday, in that I am using the stand alone software, I might have to log into CCP to program. The issue is being elevated to the IR group. I just have to find time to call back in and work with them to resolve - dang day job.

To answer TM's question I am running:

About Editor: 1.10.010
IRDB: 1.95
Remocon Version is: 4.20..002.001

If anyone else has any ideas, I welcome hearing from you!

Thank you,

Bill

SOLVED.

Turns out, for whatever reason, that the MRF100 that is "repeating" the on/off commands to the VIZIO (MRF250 runs the rack in another room) is NOT compatible with the VIZIO discrete ON command, but it is compatible with every other VIZIO command.

I unplugged my MRF100 and aimed the MX980 at the TV - turned on first button press.

Go figure.......
