I've been integrating an MSC-400 and MX-900 into a home for control of A/V devices, thermostat and whole house lighting.
Everything works well, except, I'm wondering if the there is press, hold and release functionality I'm missing?
In other words, is there a way to send an RS232 string such as "VolumeUPPressed" when the Volume UP button is pressed, "VolumeUPHold" when the Volutm UP button is held and "VolumeUPRelease" when the Volume UP button is released? Right now, I'm able to send RS232 strings for any button to an external home automation system and it works, but I'd really like this button state functionality...
I'm very surprised proper button state doesn't appear to be implemented. I know you can have two state macros that will send one macro on a mometary press, but there's no way to model the exact button state using this method as far as I know?...

No response yet... Doh!
Judging from the lack of response and my research of the help files I guess that means the MX-900/MSC-400 doesn't allow true tracking of button state.
Kind of surprising, but that's not to say a software solution to track the number RS232 responses from a button couldn't discern press, hold and release; it just makes things more complex.
I still love the feel of URC remotes, but I'm beginning to wonder what else is out there in the realm of hard button remotes that offer similar levels of integration... Anyone know if RTI offers true tracking of button states?
