So far my 880 has been a great remote. Besides the battery lasting very short time and the auto light sensor being a mechanical failure, the remote does work well. It is an expensive remote though. Anyway when learning some buttons I keep the check mark on the option to repeat IR while button is pressed. For some reason when I keep the button pressed the IR is not repeating. Do you think there is something else I need to do to get this option to work?

I would start by returning the defective remote...

Which command(s) are you trying to get repeating? Understanding what you are looking to do will help.

To power off my Popcorn Hour media player I need to press and hold the power button to power it off completely. If I just send a single signal it will go into a power save type mode which I do not want to use.

When learning the command from the Popcorn Hour remote, tap the button between 3 and 6 times before it says "learning good", rather than pressing and holding it. Give that a shot and let me know if it helps.

To shut the unit down create a macro that is:

Power
1 sec delay
Delete

This will power the unit down completely.
